Device Personalization

The T-Mobile Dash™ is packed with customizable features. Sound notifications, menu icons, display pictures, and more can be tailored to your preferences. We would like to point out some popular settings other users have found useful.

Device Personalization Tips

Set an MP3 or WMA song as your ringtone
1. Save the audio file to your device or MicroSD™ memory card
2. Go to Start > Settings > Sounds
3. Scroll down and press the “Ring tone” field
4. Select the desired ringtone (MP3 and WMA ringtones will be listed automatically)

Assign a ringtone to a contact
1. Go to “Contacts” from the Today Screen (bottom-right)
2. Open a contact
3. Press Menu > Edit
4. Scroll down and press the “Custom ring tone” field
5. Select the desired ringtone

Assign a picture to a contact
1. Go to Start > Pictures and Videos
2. Highlight the picture you want to assign
3. Press Menu > Save to Contact…
4. Select the desired contact


OR

1. Go to “Contacts” from the Today Screen (bottom-right)
2. Open a contact
3. Press Menu > Edit
4. Press the “Picture” field
5. Select the desired picture

Change your Home Screen Layout
1. Go to Start > Settings > More > Home Screen > “Home screen layout”
2. Select the desired Home Screen layout

Change your background picture
1. Go to Start > Settings > More > Home Screen > “Background image”
2. Select the desired picture

Modify your date / time settings
1. Go to Start > Settings > Clock & Alarm > “Date & Time”
2. Select the appropriate time zone, date, and time

ive have the same problem, but chillaxxxx cos i figured it out here is how u take ur music and make it a ringtone..... u ready?
first sync the music onto the phone. then u go into the storage device (microSD card) and highlight the song u want. then u go to MENU, EDIT, COPY and hit COPY. once uve done this, you go back into the same menu that u were just in, scroll down to the bottom and select MY DEVICE, from there u go to APPLICATION DATA, then go to SOUNDS, once u are in sounds press MENU, EDIT, AND PASTE. once uve done this. follow the steps from above, and u will find that your song is now in the list and can be selected :D

I see the mp3 as a ringtone if I put the mp3 in the \windows\rings\ older

This 'help' is terrible. I too have the mp3 on the phone, yet in the scroll box, it can not be found. "MP3 and WMA ringtones will be listed automatically," is not a true statement.

ok, i need help! i have put an mp3 on my tmobile dash in hopes of using it as my ringtone. i did just as instructed, went to start, settings, sounds, and scrolled through the ringtones, and it didn't list my mp3 as an option. what do i do? the mp3 is in my windows media player on my phone.
