Need some help - Telus HTC Touch Diamond GPS
Hi to all,
I recently (about 3 or 4 days ago) bought an HTC Touch Diamond from Telus (Quebec, Canada) and was simply amazed at what that phone can do. But a little quirk apened when I got home and played with it and discovered all its functions.
It seems that I dont have QuickGPS installed and no matter what I try and no matter what program I download, it seems my phone cant connect to any GPS satellites. I have tried many (if not all) com ports/bauds setting combinations and all programs seem unable to access the internal GPS receiver.
Can anyone help me out and suggest things for me to check out. I am new to the WM community and dont have alot of tech skillz with such phones but I really need to get that GPS functioning or its just not worth the extra $$$$ I put on it instead of another internet phone... I am almost thinking of switching carrier and going for an iPhone since I need GPS so much (would help me in my work alot).
The guys at the HTC custumer service told me it was suposed to be set to com 4 but I have tried every combinations of baud rates and still no sat signals :(
There is another guy here on the HTCwiki that started a tread for help on the GPS but in is case, it is working (dont know why and I asked him how he did it) but its not helping me to have help choosing a GPS program when it is not working. If you want to check it out go HERE.
I want to make it work with GoogleMaps or any other programs that is free (or cheap $$) and gets me a satellite view (trees, houses etc.) this would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you for your help everybody,
Lucas

your phone should have Telus Navigator on it, which is only $10 a month, and to add, since you just bought the phone as I did, you get a free 30 day trial as well!!! hope this helps!!!

I have the 'older' Touch model. I would love to have free GPS and by that I mean no data charges just a stand alone system similar to using a Garmin GPS unit. I have a friend that uses a chinese phone that has free GPS. Is this possible with software for the Touch, and if not is this at all possible with any HTC phone. The phone companies tell me they charge for GPS but I know FREE stand alone GPS does exist.
