RE: htc tytn2
"Someone from HTC needs to explain exactly how TyTn2 Users can use Nokia Maps or where we get HTC compatible maps.... For a top of the range cell the HTC sorely lacks in terms of information regarding GPS and MAPs.... I've tried Nokia Smart2go on the HTC and it screws up bigtime... as does Nokia map loader... come on HTC! or have we got another E90 on our hands?" HTC is a device manufacturer not a GPS solution provider! I use my US and Canadian TyTN II's with Telenav, Google Maps and Windows Live Search (I did my homework). Depending on what carrier your device is for and which country it is intended for, there usually is a corresponding GPS solution on the disk that comes with the device as a coourtesy.

HTC TyTN II and Blue&Me
Hi there. I have a HTC TyTN II and a Alfa Romeo 159 car with Blue&Me, the bluetooth based system to sync your phone with the car. They are both based on Windows Mobile, but my HTC TyTN II does not fully exploit the Blue&Me capabilities. For example, it does not download ringtones to the car and, more importantly, it is not able to sync the SMSs that arrive, therefore the car is not reading them to me when I'm driving. Does anyone knows if HTC has any plans to fix this incompatibility that is very annying for a phone that is supposed to be one of the best on the market? I like HTC, but I hate to have friends that exploit all the Blue&Me capabilities with their Nokia phones :-)

HTC TYTN II - Problem
I purchased an unlocked TYTN II a couple of weeks ago in the US and brought it to Mexico (where I live). I put my SIM card (Telcel) and started to configure my phone. However when the configuration screen asked me to select the country where my cellular operator is, Mexico is not included in HTCs list. As such, I am having compatibility issues. I strongly suspect that my TYTN II is the European version, does anyone know if I can install the North American operating/installation system in my phone? If so how? And, will this potentially eliminate my compatibility issue? (North American versions generally have Mexico included). If not, does anyone have a potential solution? Many thanks!

HTC TyTN II Intellisync
I am testing out a HTC TyTN II and use Intellisync mobile suite. Each time that Intellisync does a synch part of the process is looking for new software and even though there is not any software the HTC TyTN II will pop up window saying that Intellisync has been updated and the phone needs to be restarted. Is there anyway to change a setting so that I do not get this warning everytime?

HTC TYTN II Problems
Hi, I have the following issues with my HTC TyTN II
1. the battery doesn't stand for 3 hours, and the phone gets very hot after charge or if its used for more then 15 minutes contentiously 2. The backlight goes off when iam in a call and i have to press the power button to activate the lights again. 3. I have installed another language font, but the font is being used in many other programs for example the comm. Manager screen changes to that language, i cannot see any other language in my word documents. I had a imate jam before I never had these problems, what can i do to clear all these?

RE: HTC TyTN II and HTC tilt?
"I was wondering the difference between the TyTN II and the tilt. What's the difference between the two?" There is a decent amount different:
1. The TyTN II has a front facing VGA camera for video calls in addition to the rear 3 MP camera, the Tilt does not.
2. The TyTN II has a lot less bloatware, thus having about 133 MB of available space, vs. the 101 on the Tilt.
3. A lot of applications, like the HTC Home Tab plugin (look at my profile for a screenshot of it)
4. HTC Audio Manager, a different music player. This can be downloaded for the Tilt.
5. HTC Streaming Media Player (which allows native streaming from sites liek YouTube). This can be downloaded for the Tilt.
6. The ability to turn off 3G. This can be downloaded for the Tilt.
7. World Mate Business Card scanner. This uses the rear camera to scan business cards and export them to your contacts. This can be downloaded for the Tilt.
8. Windows Live Services. This includes the real Windows Live Messenger, Push email, etc. Again, you can find this app for the Tilt.
9. The TyTN II is "unlocked" meaning, you can use it with any GSM carrier in the world. The Tilt is locked to AT&T's network, but you can unlock the phone.
Those are the major differences. Again, you can download a lot of these apps. I have setup my Tilt to looks just like the TyTN II on the screen and I have also installed the HTC Touch Cube from the HTC Touch. I have posted links to a lot of these apps on the AT&T Tilt Wiki page here.

TyTn II
I just got a TyTn ii (HTC P4550). It is really an excellent phone, probably the best I have ever owned. Mine is unlocked and I use ATT. I cannot connect to ATT's proprietary MediaNet, because it is unlocked, yet can connect to everything else just fine. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Link to All the HTC TyTN II Applications
I just added a link above to XDA-Developers that lists out most of the apps that the HTC TyTN II (European cousin to the Tilt) has. It includes the HTC Home Plugin, Windows Live Services, an app to turn 3G on or off to save battery power, etc. Here is the link again:

RE: Video and Cam function of HTC Tytn ii
Unfortunately, this is a known problem for all TyTN II/Tilt phones. I have the same problem on my Kaiser. My 8525 (HTC Hermes) had much better camera performance. Though for me, I almost always carry around an SLR or my trusty Canon point and shoot. These camera phones are still not good enough for me, even if they are working properly :-)
