Plantronics 590A Pairing Problem

I can easily pair my Tilt with my Plantronics headset and then listen to music and when the phone rings it goes on pause and I talk and it is great. But once I turn off the headset it will not just re-pair when I turn it back on. Plantronics support is running me around. I can go into the phone setting as turn off the supported features, save them, then turn them back on and it works, but this sure sounds silly to me.
Am I missing the secret decoder ring or what ???? Do you find this valuable?
