couple of quick questions on the new Verizon VX6800
1) have folks noticied any issues with the volume? just is not as loud as my previous treo 700p
2) the phone comes with GPS and the option to configure, however i don't believe GPS is enabled or exposed to othe applications (e..g, google maps or microsoft live search

any thoughts?..thx in advance

I called verizon and they said GPS is enabled but is currently not supported by Google maps and other software setup primarily for windows 5.0. I just think they are stalling to sell their Verizon navigator crap. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

This is a serious issue with the 6800. I had a very difficult time hearing on the earpiece at max volume levels. The max volume setting needs to be increased by HTC. This is a software issue. In a noisy place it is almost impossible to hear an incomming call. Anyone talk to Verizon or HTC to get a fix for this? This is a make-or-break issue for me with this phone. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Search for a new AudioPara.Cab file. You can find it by doing a Google search. 6  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

Volume stinks. Raise the volume using a GreaT Bluetooth. Best on market to raise volume is Jawbone by Verizon. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Go to the XV6800 posts on Howard Forums and there are many fixes for the volume issue. The best is editing the audio files
with the audiopara.csv files. VZW and HTC don't have a clue about fixing this phone. If you have a problem , go to
ppcgeeks.com , HowardForums.com , or pdaphonehome.com , or xda-developers.com and you will be able to find
a fix for just about any issue you have with the XV6800. I did the audiopara.csv fix and my phone is real loud now.

I called Verizon. Got helpful level 2 tech. He said that their network disables the ability to use Google Map since they push their Navigator crap. He hated the situation but was confident there is no fix at the phone level. Their network is screwing us. 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

I too have found the volume is an issue. Almost to the point of returning the VX6800. That and not being able to configure a second on/off switch. You would think these could be fixed. Do you find this valuable?

To Change Speaker Volume Settings (to louder…do reverse, if no joy):

1. ##778 Talk
2. Select Edit
3. Enter Code 000000
4. From top, select CDMA Settings
5. Change EVRC Enabled to Disabled
6. Change Home Page to Voice 13k
7. Change Home Orig to Voice 13k
8. Change Roam Orig to Voice 13k

It works on the xv6800 because I did it. I have verizon as my carrier (not sure if this matters). But just follow the steps. Now I can hear my calls, video and music, albeit not in stereo, but at least I can hear now.

XV6800 GPS is disabled in software. Verizon update to WM6.1 keeps GPS disabled. Great phone hampered by a company that does not know how to manage and support what is essentially is a mini-computer. It is why I left Verizon. Do you find this valuable?

I'm not entirely sure that this topic has made it over to this forum yet, but I figured it's very important I post it and I don't have time to wonder thru this forum to see if anyone else has mentioned it...This deserves to be bumped anyways....

IF YOU HAVE VERIZON'S LATEST OFFICIAL WINDOWS MOBILE 6.1 RELEASE (available thru free download on the manufacturers website) YOU CAN NOW ENABLE / ADD GPS TO VERIZON'S LATEST OFFICIAL XV6800 STOCK ROM (and cooked rom's needing mod's work too)!!! [VZW Rom v3.57.605.1] - THIS IS VERY EASILY APPLIED!!! :)

Follow this link to get the instructions and ONE cab file needed to unlock your aGPS on your stock or custom ROM!

Follow this link to read the thread on the topic:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=423231

This kicks so much ass....especially since I myself didn't want to mess with cooked ROM's... I knew that once verizon made their own VZW software run on the phone and disable the GPS for all other apps, that someone would come along and "fix" verizons pathetic software lock-down. I'm so happy. THIS IS ALL THANKS TO gc14 OVER AT XDA-DEVELOPERS!!! W00t! He's so damn l33t! - Take care all - Wolfman
