Manila 2D and M2D Themes

I have had a lot of people ask me the how to's about the themes that I have on my Profile page and posted in the Photo section. So here is the how to:

What is Manila 2D

Due to the popularity of HTC' s previous interfaces, such as the " cube " and HTC home, HTC developed new user interfaces for their new line of phones. This took the form of a bottom of the screen sliding navigation system called TouchFlo or Manila ... .....On the more powerful phones equipped with 3D drivers, such as the Diamond or Touch Pro, it is called TouchFlo 3D or TF3D. On the phones that lacked such drivers, such as the Jade or the Opal, it is called TouchFlo2D,TF2D or Manila 2D.
Now luckily some very smart guys over at XDA found a way to extract this interface from the Opal and the Jade, so that the rest of us can have cool looking phones too. The only drawback is that since this interface was ripped from phones that do not have slide out keyboards, this interface does not work in landscape mode. You need to navigate to where you want to go and then switch to landscape mode. Like HTC Home and other interfaces, this is just a shell interface and can be removed at any time, just like any other program

How do I get Manila 2D

You can download M2D ........HERE ...........................thanks herg
The latest version includes a tab for footprints, try it if you want, it is a beta version. The last tried and trued version is update 20 here After installing this, you can update to version 21.
Read through the second post of this thread, if you encounter the need for any additional files, they are located there,
Also it helps for overall function , to have the latest version of HTC Home installed. Download that HERE
Now I am assuming that we all know how to download .zips and .cabs to our phones, so I will not get into that here. There are other pages here that cover that.

Now for the installation

1.) Soft reset your phone, it is always a good idea to soft reset your phone before installing any new apps. Some programs do not fully install if other programs are running in the background. A soft reset kills all other running programs.
2.) If you do not already have HTC Home v.2.1 installed, install that first.
3.) Now install the M2D cab on to your device, not your storage card. Install the v.21 update after if you want. I did.
4.) Soft reset your phone. When it re- boots your phone should look like this.Default Manila 2D

Now on to the Themes
Themes come in two forms. Themes formed into .cab files and themes formed into M2DCt files, usually in a .zip file. If your chosen theme is a .cab, just install the cab like you would any other cab. If it is a .zip that contains a m2dct file, then you need to install a theme manager. Again, luckily the smart guys over at XDA have developed a great theme and customization manager for M2D, called "M2DC" -- which stands for Manilla 2D Customizer. It consolidates about 100 controllable factors for modifying themes:Background images, tab systems and icon systems, font colors and sizes and faces, many other things.

Manila 2D Customizer ( thanks to mpenguin14 )
Find M2DC HERE Download and install this program, this is a great program that mpenguin has shared with us for free, but donations for the development and continued improvements to this program are appreciated.
This program can be installed to your storage card, as some of the theme files are pretty hefty. Soft reset.

Next, Find a Theme

I have tried to link most of the themes that I have shared in my Profile and in the photo section. For more themes , visit a few of these links and threads
1.) Started by twolf
2.) Started by KidnamedAlbert
3.) Started by The ChampJT
4.) Started by jdume

Launch the M2DC utility
1.) Find and download the theme that you want to your phone
2.) Launch M2DC
3.) If you think that you might want to go back to the default theme at some point, you will need to back up these files,as every new theme overwrites the files of the old theme. At the bottom of the M2DC screen, navigate to the " restore " tab. Press back up M2D theme, this will back up the default theme. Next go back to the " Themes " tab, to get your new theme, press add. Then navigate to where you downloaded your theme, highlight it and press OK. Your theme will then appear in your settings box. Press " apply theme " and the theme will start to load. You will come to a theme option screen, just press ok. Your theme will then install itself. It will automatically restart TouchFlo and then your new theme will appear on your screen.

Top-bar and bottom-bar of the screen
The only other thing you might want to change to complete your theme is the top and bottom bars. This is done by adding .tsk files to your device/windows folder with File Explorer. Just cut and paste from wherever you downloaded the .cabs to your device windows folder. You can find black bars here and blue bars here

1.) copy, or place, the .tsk file(s) you want to try into the \Windows folder of your device. Use "File Explorer" for this, to show the directory structure of the files on your phone.

2.)
Then, to access and switch between those .tsk themes, go to: Start > Settings > Personal > and find the "Today" icon. "Today" is the setting you will be changing. You'll now see in the left-hand box on that page the names of all the .tsk files you just loaded into the Windows directory of your phone. Now you select the one you want to try, click "OK" at the top-right of the screen, and in a second or two, the top-bar and bottom-bar will change. If you like, keep it. if not, try another.

Hi!

How can i see what version of HTC Home i have before updating it? And why should i update it?
I use the old update 14 of the Manila and it works fine, but i have always have had low memory because of all the files installed.
I wonder, is it any idea to use a newer build or does this newer builds take up as much space as the older ones?
