Bluetooth tethering - HTC Touch Diamond as modem (USB tethering works)
Feb 24 2009, 9:36 AM EST
I am able to tether my HTC Touch Diamond to my laptop PC successfully over USB, but when I go for the bluetooth tethering option, i keep getting an error 678 for the modem. I have successfully paired over bluetooth and created a bluetooth dial-up connection on the laptop to *99# (no username or password), selected bluetooth on my phone's internet sharing app, but still no dice. Do I need to change some other settings? Maybe the PPP? any ideas would be appreciated!

I bit the bullet and bought PDANET which hides the phone from the providers who like to charge for using as a modem. it is at http://www.junefabrics.com/palmnet/ Works like a charm and with 3 g you get a 2.4 mbit connection

when you use the internet connection sharing application, you MUST NOT use it as amodem, but the phone will provide a bluetooth PAN, a network you can join with your laptop and thus having internet from scratch
