TMobile SDA - Not connecting to Secured WiFi in my University..URGENT HELP NEEDED PLEASE
Was this post helpful ?

I purchased a TMobile SDA (HTC Tornado) with Windows Mobile 5 smartphone to take advantage of our WiFi network . I am having problems setting up my WiFi connection and i cant find a solution..please help me...

When using my laptop wifi connect I set up the following

My network name (SSIDD) - Utech-Students

Network Authentication OPEN

Data Encryption WEP

key is automatically provided (i tick this option)

Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network

EAP Type as PEAP.

Then under configuration of PEAP I uncheck Validate Server Certificate and authentication method selected as "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) and "enable fast reconnect" is also ticked.

With these settings it works perfectly well in laptop.

But with these settings made in the SDA phone it gives the following error msgs ;

"The server certificate is issued by an unknown authority"

and

"Cannot log on to the wireless network. This network requires a personal certificate to positively identify you."

this is actual problem ...please help me

In this case you can log in to the router &* disable WPS or Wifi protected setup on the router.
It will work

Kamal, thanks for the reply. But please note that this is an University wireless network that i am trying to log in and access internet. We dont have any control over the router or the WiFi systems....They just give the connection protocols and assign username and pwd and we simply tweak the settings (if needed) in laptop and login and access the internet...but with SDA i cant even log on to the network.

thanks and regards

My phones not T-Mobile, but yours maybe set up similier. go to start-->settings--> connections tab-->wireless manager. Turn on the wi-fi (looks like a tower) Then it should automaticcally pop-up as available, follow the prompts to login. If it does not automatically show up, go to the personal tab and adjust your sounds & notifications settings to allow alerts for when wi-fi is available. 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?
