80. Tilt died after two days
Mar 2 2008, 12:38 AM EST
I got my tilt on February 28th, it died March 1st. I left it charging overnight and in the morning found the blinking red light. Would not power on under any circumstances. I took it back to the AT&T store, they swapped in a fresh battery, didn't work. Then they took my battery and put it in a different Tilt and it worked fine and showed 100% charge. So they exchange my phone for me.With the first phone, I immediately upgraded the ROM from 1.57.502.2 to the latest version 1.62.502.0 and it worked fine for those first two days. The markings under the battery cover on the dead phone were: 36H00563-00M 181007(RC01)/US My new phone has identical data markings, hopefully it wll last more than 2 days. 81. RE: at&t tilt 8925 power on issue

Yes I have too experienced this with my tilt. It would go into a deep sleep and wouldn't receive any calls or texts. I called at&t and got sent to the warranty center. They then sent me a replacement phone, but when I opened the box I found a filthy and scratched device that was sent to replace my still brand new looking one. I was very upset. I called them back complaining about the device that was sent to me. They then sent me a second one. Same thing happened the phone was filthy all full of dirt lint and dust not to mention the camera on the back that was all scratched. I called back they sent out a third phone. Same deal, dirty but at least this one wasn't as scratched, so I cleaned it, and right as I was getting ready to use it I find that I cant put the back cover on because the tech people didn't do their job right and left a latch sticking out when they put it back together. I was then freaking pissed! I called back but this time decided to speak with some one in Spanish because it has happened to me before were for some odd reason I finally get the help I need when I ask to speak with a representative who speaks Spanish. So anyway, they sent me a new phone and I was happy until I just recently found out that all devices have the same problem. I spent about three months on this for nothing!!! :( Do you find this valuable? |

"UPDATE: Replaced the SIM card on 01/18. Have not had a single issue with the phone since. Works flawlessly! I recommend to anyone having "deep hibernation" issues to get a new SIM card. It took about 5 minutes to swap it out at an ATT store. "UPDATE: Since last update, I've experienced approx 4 deep hibernations. They are so infrequent that I can live with it. I did have it happen once while using the phone as a alarm clock. Alarm never sounded, and I woke up late. Could have been a real problem. Pretty sad that you can't trust this phone to be an effective alarm clock. Updated the ROM as suggested by HTC & ATT. Didn't notice any improvements from the update though. I've had my Tilt since it first came out and never experienced this deep hibernation issue until now. I've read the entire thread and can't find a solution. I plug the phone into any charger and just get a steady red light. Device will not turn on or soft reset, tried a new battery and re-setting the sim card, nothing get's it too boot. Any suggestions? "Are you using the included WIndows Media Player? If so, you can assigne a button on your phone to turn off the screen while listening to music. I personally am using the HTC Audio Manager that came with the HTC TyTN II. It allows me to turn off the screen using the power button and will still play music when I do that."I want to use my tilt 8925 windows media player and turn the screen off while listening. How do I assign a button to turn the screen off? I know how to get to: settings then buttons but where’s the screen program or what is it called? Do you find this valuable? |

Scroll to the right until you get to the Buttons tab. You can set it here. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I just had the same issue today with my 8925 tilt gone dead - Some are calling it the "red light of death"Went to the att store only after 34 days from purchase and was told, "they won't exchange, I have to wait to get someone elses refurb. I just didn't want to stop there so I kept searching and found a solution. Remove and replace the battery many times about 20 and then turn on the power button and it worked. http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=73073 Now I wonder what I'm going to do with the unit they send to me in a couple of days. It seems hard to determin if it's a hardware or a software issue when you can get it to restart like this. chris http://www.4imc.com 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

The link I provided is straight to the website of the person who developed KaiserTweaks. I would recomend going there in case the developer has any updates. Do you find this valuable? |

I have had my ATT TILT for a few days now. I had read this string before I bought it and was freaked out.I have done everything I can think of mentioned in this string and I cant seem to get a "RED LIGHT" I read the full instruction manual when I got the phone and HTC says in big bold letters that the charger either wall or computer must be grounded so I was wondering if anyone who has had the "RED LIGHT OF DEATH ISSUE" has been charging thier phone with an un-grounded source? "I have had my ATT TILT for a few days now. I had read this string before I bought it and was freaked out.If you have ungrounded outlets in your house, then they are out of code in many states. When wiring your electrical outlets in your house, there is always a ground feed in the outlet. Do you find this valuable? |

I dont really want to go on about this but with the advent of CPVC many of the older homes whose electricity was grounded to the plumbing, who have had the in galvanized pipe replaced with plastic .... are no longer grounded.Do you find this valuable? |

I paid $600 for yet another tilt. The old one had problems this one took one week and went dead. I returned it. I will not buy this devise. I will question any future purchase of HT company equipment. This item has problems and my own opinion is I have a better chance with the lotto than getting one that works....good luck to those of you who buy one. I got a Motorola Q and out of the box it worked every time just as advertised. Not so many features but if your phone does not work, what is the sense of having any features? I really am sad about wasting my time and money on this "thing". I am still stuck with the old one....anyone looking for a good deal...before I put it on ebay?
