"Descipering your punctuationless instructions:

Plug in the Charger without the battery inside and switch on the power.
Without removing the charger plug in the battery, light went Orange.
Wait a moment or two then power on and you're in business."
Hey, i just got this problem yesterday and was not impressed.

Firstly i start with no battery and no charger plugged in. But when i finally put the charger in, the red light still stays on and i am unable to switch on the power.

anyone else having this problem ?
[I am going to open it fully up tomorrow to clean up instead but i doubt that'll do too much.]

Yep....trick with battery worked for me (for some minutes)...
When I unplugged the battery and put the phone in the charger, the red light blinked very rapidly and when I plugged the battery back in, it went orange.
I waited 30 minutes, tried to start up... red light again :)
dead phone I guess.....

Mine blinks red with the power plugged in and the battery out but will not power up. It is on red constantly when battery is in but won't power up. I did try in desperation to shake the shit out of it but that did not work. Can anyone suggest a reliable repair site for the PPC 6700?

I too had this red light problem. It all started when the phone froze. I had to pull the battery to "reboot" the phone. Once I went to turn it on there was nothing but a blank screen and a red light when I plugged it in.

All that went a way later that day and worked fine after sitting on the charger for a while that night. Some how now I have a blue light flashing as well as green. Apparently the blue means the Blue Tooth is on...

I just got this red light tonight and panicked!
Here's what I did:
1) remove battery
2) plug in phone
3) wait a couple of seconds, hit power button, steady amber light comes on
4) do soft reset (if that doesn't work, try hard reset)

I "think" I'm back in business. I'll see how it goes with regular usage again tomorrow.

I have all the same problems with a HTC Ty TN 11 4 months old. Had it replaced by Vodaphone with a new phone last week. It did not work with the old battery from the old phone. Presumed the battery was stuffed. Got a new one from Vodaphone. It worked fine then until the next morning (it had been on charge all night) when it also had flattened the battery and turned itself off. Turned it on momenetarily and it turned itself off again and the red light of death shone out again.... Tried all the above patches/fixes and no joy. Vodaphone r stumped. is this a hardware problem in that the phone flattens the battery and wont llet it charge or is it a software problem. nobody seems ot know. menawhile ive got a bloody brick on my hands - still..any ideas anyone.. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. I have tried everything to get this phone to work. For the people that got their phone to work after removing the battery and plugging in the phone, waiting, and then putting the battery in, most likely it was just the battery. Lithium Ion batteries don't bog down on life. When the life of the battery has ended, that's it. There's no more power and you can't charge it, that's why the phone shuts back off. For the people that can't get the phone to turn on after trying all the methods that these nice people have tried above and below.. The problem is the hardware and your phone is toast. I hope you had a warranty because I didn't and I am pissed. I threw it against the wall and smashed it and it still didn't work..haha..might as well get a less complicated phone than paying money to get it fixed.

Just an update on my July 21 post with HTC Ty TN 11. Took it back to Vodaphone who admitted that yes, there was an issue with these phones with a batch of them that had faulty software. They replaced it with a brand new one (This was the THIRD new phone to replace the original!) and so far to date, 1 month later all working OK. For all of you that have the red light issue - the phone is f***** and there is no way that you will usually get it to work - and it must be replaced. Moral of the story. Phones are getting too complicated and are subject more and more to software issues - specially PDAs - so get one on a plan so it is INSURED if anything goes wrong with it..... The battery don't charge nothing and i don't know what i can do to save my phone because i already open it and clean the main board....
