RE: HTC USB modem driver or getting started CD
Mar 17 2008, 5:58 AM EDT Are you all talking about the ability to have your devices used as a modem for a laptop? If so, it should already be on the devices. It's called Internet Sharing under Start\Programs. If it's not there, goto your file explorer and goto My Device\Windows and you should also be able to find it there. 40 out of 42 found this valuable. Do you? |

If so, you can get it from Microsoft's website. If you are using Windows XP, you need to download ActiveSync 4.5. If Windows Vista, you need Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1. You can download ActiveSync 4.5 here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx Or Windows Mobile Device Center here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx 19 out of 20 found this valuable. RE: HTC USB modem driver or getting started CD
Apr 19 2008, 2:03 PM EDT What some of us are trying to do is set up our HTC phone so that we can connect to the Internet on a laptop using the phone's Internet service. I'm also having trouble doing this as the directions included reference software that does not exist. I was able to find the USB Modem Dialer Driver Installation software, which did not actually seem to install any new drivers on to my computer. This is still a pain and reference would be most helpful. Appreciate the links to activesync, but that does not seem to have the answer either. Any other tutorials on Internet Sharing or similar services? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I am with Telus in Canada, they have chosen not to include the afore mentionned "Internet Sharing" program on the phone, and since others are not finding it, I would assume other companies have done the same. 5 out of 5 found this valuable. We all have internet Sharing on our phones, so this is a problem we have not encountered and we are trying to get in perspective. Perhaps the reason people are having trouble finding it is because your carriers do not allow tethering. Some companies allow it with a tethering plan and some remove the internet sharing program and do not make the drivers available to discourage this. 15 out of 17 found this valuable. Do you? |
