Awesome! It may be cumbersome, but it works. My device connected for a while with this cable before I started having this problem, is this a case of the sync cable becoming damaged or too long or what? Why would it work and then just quit working until you add the splitter ("two mini USB adapter") ? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

"when you install these prorams (actifesync, and windows mobile device center) it installs the drivers as well. The installation process should put the drivers on your computer. Hope this info was helpful!"

"People here are just trying to understand the problem so that we may help. We all have internet Sharing on our phones, so this is a problem we have not encountered and we are trying to get in perspective.
Perhaps the reason people are having trouble finding it is because your carriers do not allow tethering. Some companies allow it with a tethering plan and some remove the internet sharing program and do not make the drivers available to discourage this."

I followed all of the advice on this thread and was still at a roadblock; I DID GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED... HERE is what i did: my issue was not my pc recognizing my phone/tethering device but everytime i plugged in and enabled tethering it would ask me for "Generic RNDIS" driver; NOW I HAD ALREADY installed "Windows Mobile device center" which is essential for tethering to work unless you are running XP then you will need "Activesync" but this post may not help xp users anyway; i was going in circles then when it was trying to install or search online via my LAN connection I tried something new and this may only work if you have mobile device center installed or i may have found a work around but im not going to reboot my OS to find out; I OPENED DEVICE MANAGER found "Generic RNDIS" with exclaimation point (while windows still searching online) right-clicked selected update driver "select option to browse" then selected "let me choose from a list" All devices came up i selected "network adaptor" then selected "microsoft corporation" then selected "microsoft windows mobile remote adapter" it said wasnt compatible and do i want to continue and i clicked yes; moments later installed successfully; i about fell out of my chair as i had worked about 2 hours on it going through this forum and many others. i didnt understand why this pc had such a hard time connecting as i have connected many times before just simply after adding the windows mobile device center. i have alltel touch pro and in trying multiple things did install http://www.vzam.net/uploadedfiles/WModem_Driver_Installer_v1.2.2.4_WWE.exe and it recognizes my phone to drag and drop files but may or may not have played a part in getting the tethering to work. hope that helps.
