Crappy little proprietary connector
Jul 27 2007, 12:32 AM EDT
The crappy little proprietary connector used for headphones, USB, and power failed on my first Cingular 3125...I pulled out the USB cable I was using to sync with my PC and the little bugger came out with it! Fortunately the phone was under warranty so the solution was twofold: 1) get a replacement (appears to be new; not a refurb...but still didn't have the latest OS), 2) use Bluetooth for headphones and sync where possible...minimize the use of plug-in connectors except to charge.

Anyone else have this problem? Just looking at the surface-mount connector that came out it appears to be a very poor and fundamentally unreliable design (I'm an electronics engineer - worked for Compaq...I know about this stuff).
2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

NTERESTING that they stopped SELLING the 3125 soon after it's release. Probably because of this PORT problem.
I went thru THREE of these 3125's in 9 months, before I gave up because Cingular (then) would NOT replace it because they said the I abuseed it (Bullsh-t !!!!). I am VERY VERY careful with my phones, and it was a defect that they would NOT admit. They just stopped SELLING them.
MY PROBLEM is that I replaced my 3125 with an 8925 TILT, but it's a "brick" and I still end up carrying a 2nd phone for convenience (my old moto flip). I forward my tilt calls to the moto.
DOES anyone know if the 3125 problem was ever FIXED on a later released model, OR if the other models (like the 3100- no camera) also had the same problems. I would love to buy another 3100 series for my pocket fone. It was a great design.

If not , what would be the closest thing to it (small, lite, and runs winMobile) Actually winMobile 6 would be even better.

Thanks for your input.
