I bought new HTC Touch just 2 days ago... And I am also facing the same problem... have surfed thru sites and tried to call HTC Customer care but falied in everything...
In my case, my windows XP doesnt proceed with installation of Generic RNDIS drivers.. it shows dat d INF is missing some entry or it has been created for windoes 95 or higher... cant understand why it doesnt take into account the XP version of windows....

Please if any techies have solution to this....

Well, I'm glad to see that I'm not totally stupid because I am having the same problems and can't get it fixed either. I wish someone can figure this out. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Win Xp: You need to install ActiveSync 4.5:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx

Vista: You got something called Mobile Device Center or something like that, already installed. Use that for synchronizing...

If you're running Windows XP, you need to install activesync 4.5, since it contains the drivers for your mobile device! It should be included on the CD for all Windows Mobile Devices. Otherwise use the link from the previous post. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I have the same problem as everyone else here.

Installing Activesync 4.5 does not solve the problem for my WinXP machine.

I've also tried to get it to work on a Vista machine - and it can't find the driver either after updating Mobile Device Centre.

I've come to the conclusion that this phone just doesn't want to work with any PC on the planet.

In my case the install from the htc cd - which includes outlook - solved the problem.

Hi,
I've tried all the above solutions but doesn't work.
I installed the HTC touch CD on my pc earlier and internet sharing worked finely.

Then I had to format my computer and reinstall Windows XP Pro, and now when I install the HTC touch CD, after that when i connect the phone and try internet sharing, it keeps giving the RNDIS error with the message that the INF was meant for Windows 95 or later.

I tried unchecking "Enabled advanced network functionality", this enabled file sharing between the phone and the computer, but still the internet sharing doesn't work. The error message i get on the phone is "Check USB connection".
Please help.

Continuing this message. I also installed Active Sync 4.5 and I ensured that the three INF files i.e. USB.inf and the other two are also present on my pc. Please help.

Possible Solution:

Try to reinstall the RNDIS Divice and choose as source the Directory "...\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers".

This helped me.
