how to sync w/ bluetooth
Jun 27 2007, 12:17 AM EDT sorry for cross posting (cf 8525 Vista Issues) - I didn't see this thread until after I had already posted. I read somewhere that it's easier to synch via bluetooth than USB. I cannot figure out how to do that - can someone offer guidelines? I went to some help file and it said to go to the 'bluetooth devices' control panel on the PC - I cannot find any such control panel, only a 'bluetooth configuration' control panel, but that doesn't help me to synch w/ bluetooth. 7 out of 10 found this valuable. RE: how to sync w/ bluetooth
Jul 11 2007, 9:07 PM EDT I second your repsonse. There is NO documentation on how to set up bluetooth with Activesync. None! Nothing on the Web, nothing on any bluetooth sites, nothing from Microsoft. I can't imagine how anyone can claim it can be done if there aren't any instructions on how to do it. I've done everything I can, pairing, enabling COM ports on my PC, but Activesync NEVER finds the phone on the com port. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jul 12 2007, 1:23 AM EDT here are detailed instructions if you have "bluetooth devices" in the control panel. They start from the 3rd reply in this thread: http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Cingular+8525+Bluetooth/thread/708261/ActiveSync+via+Bluetooth You can also find the basic instructions in the ActiveSync program help index. Note: some people have bluetooth "devices", others have "configuration", and etc. Basically all you need to do is set an "incoming port" and program that into the Activesync software. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Jul 12 2007, 8:23 PM EDT Those instructions worked like a charm the first time, and it synced, however when I ask Activesync to resync, it doesn't see the phone anymore. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: how to sync w/ bluetooth
Dec 8 2007, 2:36 PM EST After fighting this one for several months with my 8525 w/att wm6, here what I found ....... On my Dell (toshiba stack) you will have two types of com ports . Incoming (server) and outgoing (client). The incoming(server) is the one you want, but not important as you will see!! The only thing that is important is to note which com ports did your bluetooth manager setup!!! After you set the ActiveSync partnership with your PC through USB. Go to Files/Connection Setting. Check the box " Allow connections to..."Now select the incoming(server) com port, or at least the one you think it is!! OK out... Now on the 8525 go to ActiveSync, select connect via bluetooth. When it comes to the "No Partnership exists....". Now follow the prompts on setting up the bluetooth partnership. Select your PC, NOW Re-discover services on your PC!! If the correct port is selected on your PC, ActiveSync service should appear. If not, no sweat, just go back to the PC. Change the com port in the connection setting for Activesync. Now back on 8525 re-discover services on your PC. If you have to, just go down the list until you get the Activesync service to show up!! Now here is the Kicker, when you get the active sync service and hit OK. Now try to Activsync via Bluetooth. if it come back with no partnership doesn't exist, just follow the screen prompts. select your PC with activesync service checked....uncheck it, then re-check. It should give a warning about ending connection to conserve power. You are done!! Good Luck!! 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: how to sync w/ bluetooth
Dec 26 2007, 5:23 AM EST you computer frist must be bluetooth capable and then pair your blue on the computer with the bluetooth on the phone. You must create a passkey to secure your sync, then your phone should pick up your device, make sure your phone bluetooth is turned on. Then follow the process as your phone subject. if you have any more problems you can email me at arch7@live.com CJ 0 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 10 2008, 9:05 AM EST "My dash and Home PC seem to pair but will not active sync with blue tooth. Works fine with USB anyone have any suggestions?"In my experience, you can only initiate the ActivSync connection from the device. On your phone, open ActivSync and look for an option labelled "Connect via Bluetooth". If your phone is already paired with your computer and the COM ports are set properly, it should work. Bluetooth is usually the only method I use to sync my Mogul running WM6. It's slower than USB but it means one less cable cluttering up my desk. 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
