Getting "Invalid Update Tool" when trying to do firmware update

Cingular (branded) 8525 with:

ROM 1.34.502.1
ROM Date: 9-21-06
Radio Version: 1.16.00.00
Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H

Downloaded file from the firmware page: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2.15.502.3_6275_1.40.30.00_108_Ship.exe

I get the following:

ERROR [200] : INVALID UPDATE TOOL

Please get newer update utility. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I do get the same problem with my phone. Same exact description as your phone. 3  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Hello,

I called HTC technical support (excellent support btw).

The fix to this problem was to top all applications (including those on the system tray) on the computer and also on the PDA phone.

Once this was done the install got passed the above error.
