Answering a Call

I have only had my Qtec 9100 for a month or so and so far it is great, but find that when I receive a call the Green Handset button lights up but if I press this I get cut off. I am advised that I should be pressing the small bar above this button but I find this to be too close and cut myself off.
Can I activate the Green Handset button to answer received calls.
