A few problems with my Tilt 2

First of all, is it possible to have customized e-mail or mms alert tones? How would I go about doing it. Only place I seem to be able to save them to is my music folder on either my device or storage card. I only seem to be able to have custom ringtone for my contacts, nothing else. All that appear available when choosing alerts for things like e-mail, mms and other things are the preloaded tones already on the phone. Can't search elsewhere for anything, and none of those preloaded tones can be found using any kind of search method on the device or with the use of activesync. Also, I've had a problem downloading some e-mail attachments. The first of which was a cab file that was attached to an e-mail. When I click on it a message appears saying something along the lines of, it can't be done cause the file might not be safe. And there was another e-mail that had a wmv video file attached. I click on it and windows media player appears, but then a message appears saying it can't perform the requested action. Is this cause it's a file media player can't play? And if so would this issue be fixed if I downloaded and installed something like coreplayer?

And as for downloading apps. Some that I download like realplayer mobile is no where to be found for me to instal it. I choose open instead of save. It finishes and there's that check mark that appears in the downloads screen. After that, nothing. I close out of there and go to the downloads folder but it's empty. How the heck am I supposed to instal the program if I can't find it? Same issue with another program I downloaded to but I'm in talks with another support person for that. However much anyone here can help me with these issues, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Copy them, then paste to the Windows folder. You can find that with File Explorer Do you find this valuable?

I saved it to the windows folder on my sotrage card. Still couldn't find it in the list of options for e-mail tones. Guiess I'll keep placing it elsewhere till it pops up. It's not an mp3 if that matters any. It's an aac file. Do you find this valuable?

I have seen recent posts on TP2 (Tilt2) that will find ringtones on a storage card. I know that won't work on older WM6.1 ROMs like my Tilt. I have to store my ringtones and alert tones in my Windows folder on the device (not the storage card). Also ringtones can be mp3, wav, wma formats, but aac won't work. Alert tones must be wav - mp3 tones don't work as alert tones.

I hear that the newer phones (like the Tilt2 running WM6.5) are easier to make ringtones/alert tones work, but I haven't worked with one yet so I can't tell you for sure. You should try storing a custom ringtone in mp3 format and a custom alert tone in wav format in the Windows folder on your phone and see what happens - it will probably work.

I contacted HTC tech support and have the e-mail tone issue resolved. Ya just have to instal it in the sounds folder with in the application data folder. As for the other issues with not being able to instal some apps, I guess maybe they're just not comptable with my phone. I don't know. And as for the wmv file attachment not playing, that format just must not be supported by my device. I'm trying to instal coreplayer in order to fix that issue. Thanks for all who tried to help me with these questions. Appreciate it. Do you find this valuable?

The WM6.5 was just officially released in October, 2009. Many apps have not caught up with 6.5. If you wait a few months, many of the apps will be upgraded to run with 6.5. Which apps are you having trouble installing? The Tilt2 definately supports .wmv format. That should work right out of the box.

I just wrote you a long reply but lost it - oops... basically you are not alone.. I have had the TILT2 for a week; I've found numerous issues - running Windows 6.5; HTC does not support playing VOIP.wav voice message files so I cannot play my .wav voice messages.

Though I can play my .wav music; HTC says its a known HTC issue but no one is fixing it.

I am trying to also download applications and install them with no success. I do tech support for a living with PC's so I am very familiar with technical issues with Windows but I am not finding this phone user friendly at all.

It took me forever (and AT&T) to finally find WINDOWS EXPLORER. And most things that I want to do are not documented in their 270 page manual.

I have several posts that I made for the Tilt 2 today if you want to take a look at them.

I think because this is new between AT&T and HTC and Windows 6.5 WE are the ones getting frustrated spending time trying to get things to work that ultimatly right now there is no solution for. That is what I am finding out. And I only have 30 days (now 23) to decide to keep this or not. I've waited for this phone for 2 years so I want this to work.

I have spent HOURS with AT&T tech support and they really do not know much about the TILT2; I spent a lot of time talking to HTC support and they do not know a lot about how AT&T and how Windows Mobile 6.5 configured things... so its pretty frustrating...

but I have not given up and I've spent every day since I bought this a week ago - finding fixes or finding out there are not fixes.

also frustrated because I am trying to store downloaded APPLICATIONS onto the microSD card as the phone itself does not have a lot of space. Can't figure out how to do that and to even get them to run. LETS HELP EACH OTHER..... YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
