Press Start > More > Accessories > "SIM Manager" icon.
Press Menu > "Select All" or highlight a single contact.
Press Menu > "Save to Contacts".

When you back up to your SIM card, you don't usually get all the data from each contact backed up. You have to set the SIM manager to back up what you want. I suggest in the future, you back up to your storage card (using Sprite Backup - or a similar program). This will allow you to back up contacts, calendar, tasks, plus system settings, etc. A full backup rather than just contacts. Then if you have a disaster or need a new phone, you can plug in the storage card and do a restore and you're back in business, aftermarket programs and all.

I also keep two storage cards backed up. One in the phone and one locked up in my office. One of my employees had his briefcase stolen in an airport and lost his laptop, phone, etc. He had a backup storage card in the office, so he got a new laptop and cell phone, restored his cell phone from the storage card, then synced with the new laptop and had all data back in a few days. Extra storage cards cost about $10 and are really cheap insurance.
