Hey all, these devices have launched with AT&T and have been added to the Wiki Home page. Please start posting your threads related to those devices to the correct device page. Do you find this valuable?

The Pure is available in stores. The official launch for the Tilt 2 is October 18. So everybody with AT$T who was waiting for their TP II while everyone else in the entire world already had theirs , AT$T will be making good this Sunday.

Now it is decision time, do I go for the Tilt 2 or Hope that the HD 2 comes to AT$T early next year like the rumors say ? Hmmmmmm......

Hey Dennis, you beat me to it! : )

I just got off the AT&T website and found that I could order the Tilt2 thru my business account. It still doesn't show up for customers with personal accounts, but as you say it will be available October 18. One interesting item I saw in the specs is that the 3G on the Tilt2 is set up for 850/1900/2100 so this device will get 3G in the US but also in Europe and Asia. The original Touch Pro 2 that was released in Europe works only on 900/2100 for 3G, so those models (T7373) are like the original HD and won't get 3G in the US.

AT&T says they are finally expanding their 3G network to include 850MHz. They have been saying 3G is 850/1900, but have really only been working on 1900. 850 penetrates buildings better than 1900 (I think I heard that from you) but others may not know it.

I was all fired up to get a Tilt2, but the HD2 is such a hot number that I may stick with my Tilt until it comes out (if it ever does). Hmmmmmmm...

Will do. BTW - how is the Wiki going to handle HTC devices with Android OS? HTC is building the Google phones and I have seen a number of questions on this Wiki from Android users that are getting confused with WM OS. I started to answer a question for a guy and almost sent him on a wild goose chase looking for menus and icons that don't exist on his phone. Fortunately I caught it before I caused him a problem with bad info.

I guess HTC will have to send You, me and Talontsi each a different Android phone . so that we can continue to actively help people with their questions and problems. : )

That works for me! I would also like to be a beta tester for the HD2.

AT&T tried this "extortion" with the iPhone, and the users were so desperate to have an iPhone (for reasons that completely escape me) that they bought into the program, giving AT&T the hope they could screw all their customers the same way. Their new A-List plan looked like it would reduce my shared business plan (with 5 lines) by enough to pay for the extortion of $30 per line for 3G data, until AT&T informed me that A-List will not apply to business accounts until the second quarter of 2010. I have been an AT&T business customer since 1985 (when they were calling themselves Cellular One), but I'm so outraged by them waiting to release the Touch Pro2 (aka Tilt2) until long after every other carrier had it out, and now they have added this insult, I'm looking for a new carrier.

They knuckled under and provided the A-List plan to keep up with other carriers ... let's see how long this extortion data plan continues when they start losing large blocks of customers. If you look at the 3G coverage that they offer (compared to Verizon's coverage area) and the fact that they have been lying about using dual frequencies of 850/1900 MHz for 3G when they actually only use 1900MHz (even though 850 penetrates buildings far better than 1900). AT&T should be paying us to use their sparse coverage, poor performing 3G network. They advertise that they have the fastest 3G network, which recent CNET testing has proven is another outright lie. They are significantly slower than Sprint and Verizon. denco7 was right when he said you pick a carrier by finding the "least worst". I'm looking for the least worst and I'm sure it's not AT&T.

Being a cell phone junkie from my very first over the shoulder bag phone, I have tried every cell phone carrier ever in business in the northeast. They all unequivocally suck !

AT$T , Sprint/Nextel, Verizon, Cell One, Nextel was the best, until Sprint bought them and alienated all the die hard Nextel loyalists and then buried the company. I abandoned Sprint after they refused to subsidize a new Blackberry for me, because my old Blackberry had a cracked screen and the hang up button was broken, despite the fact that I had four phones with Nextel and I was only two months away from the end of my contract.

In addition to the obvious greed factor, they put a download limit on the data package, because they couldn't police people from illegally tethering. And I am sure that they are tired of the monthly time and paperwork it takes to reverse thousands and thousands of charges from people who don't have data plans and who constantly call to dispute connection charges because they " didn't mean to " or were " unaware " that they connected.

But seriously, why would anyone shell out large dollars for a do it all pocket PC only to not use it to it's full potential or to be tethered to hotspots.

In my situation, I have 5 phones on a business plan and three don't currently have data plans. We use Outlook for personal and business scheduling and our main office and project sites all have WiFi, so the PDA functions are more important than 3G capabilities. My big complaint is that AT&T will require a data plan even if you don't want (or need) one. That will increase my cell phone bill by $100 per month - not a big deal, but for me not needed overhead. My three staffers will probably keep their current Tilts and not get an upgrade until the A-List is available for business. That will save the $100/ month that AT&T is ripping from their new program.

BTW - After I posted my "I hate AT&T" diatribe last night, I spent two hours looking at T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon - they all suck! They all have their own subtle ways to hoodwink the comsumer. You just have to take a hard look at their deceptive advertising and pick the "least worst" !

If I treated my clients like the cell phone carriers treat their customers - I would be out of business !

SORRY TO CLOG UP THE BOARD WITH MY VENOM TOWARD CARRIERS.
