Phone only works with Speakerphone--HTC Dash
Oct 4 2009, 3:22 PM EDT
I am wondering if anyone has had this problem or know how to fix it-When I make or receive a call I can not hear the person on the other end, They say they can hear me...I recently found out that if I put phone on speakerphone there does not seem to be any problems. Phone is HTC Dash...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

"Does the ear speaker work?"Nope, When I hold phone to ear I can't hear anything...So when I see the timer on the call in progress thats when I can hit Speakerphone and everything is okay, (People on the other side said they can hear me when I use the phone the regular way). I had an HTC phone (touch pro) that had that problem. The head phone icon turned even though I didn't ever use the head phone and would not turn off you should check that if your phone has one. The problem got worse and worse until I had to have the phone warranty repaired. That took months. I would make sure you have insurance on that phone while it is still working.Incidentally, even though the PCD the company that manufactures the phone for HTC did not have the parts they said the phone was repairable and that two months was an acceptable wait for a repair. They couldn't even give me a time that the parts might arrive. Do you find this valuable? |

I had the same problem 2 mos ago with my new HTC Ozone. I also posted a thread here and got some good advice. I'm not certain what fixed the problem, but my best bet is that removing the battery and then reinstalling it was the trick. You might try searching for my thread (HTC Ozone was in the title, may have also said Only works on Speakerphone).

I found the advice I received from Dr. Jello:2. RE: Ozone Only works on Speaker Phone Aug 31 2009, 3:26 PM EDT | Post edited: Aug 31 2009, 3:26 PM EDT I would do a hard reset on the phone and if the problem persists after that then it's defintly a hardware issue. call verizon first and see if they can exchange the phone. Make sure you backup all the information before you hard reset the phone. If you have installed any applications I would remove them first before you hard reset the phone. 3rd party apps can do more harm than good sometimes. Do you find this valuable? |

Ok, well, I have to ask this before you do something drastic. Is there any way it is pairing with a bluetooth headset? Typically if you see the headphone icon it is connecting with a bluetooth headset, which is the default connection for outbound calls even if you used the phone itself to make the call.
