Reflashing Ozone to factory rom - help!
Oct 1 2009, 9:22 AM EDT | Post edited: Oct 1 2009, 9:22 AM EDT
Hello to all,

as a visually impaired user of my Ozone, I use a screen reader which allows me to know what is read outloud on the screen.

I recently installed the latest update for my screen reader on my Ozone. Beforehand, I had the software activated on the device - the licensing system allows me to activate ONLY on one device.

Once install was complete, the device rebooted but now won't go past the "htc" screen. I have tried all types of hard resets (holding down the volume up/end/send keys while poweron, etc) but the phone won't go past the boot screen, even if it says that the reset was successful.

I'm assuming that the rom of the device somehow got damaged (odd) and thus it can't load the operating system.
Is there any way to reflash the phone with factory rom? I know most devices have a downloadable rom but I can't find one for the ozone anywhere. Please, I need your help, since sending it back would void my activations for my screen reader - again, you can only have one activation and if you activate on another device, a $150 payment is needed to reset your license.

I hope something can be done. any help is appreciated!

With all the best and due respect,
Tomi

Well you can re-flash the ROM

Now finding a stock ROM can be difficult sometimes.

What service provider are you with? language? and country?

I have Verizon wireless, and my locale is en-us.

I wish I could take the phone back but seeing that I would get a new model would mean that my MEID and ESN would also be changed which is what my screen reader uses to identify a device and activate it accordingly. My only option is to somehow obtain a signed rom and reflash the phone.

I looked it with some friends and no matter what resets we do it is stuck on the htc screen. So I'm pretty positive that it is... bricked.

With all due respect-
Tomi

:) Thanks a lot. I hope it isn't either :)

I wish HTC/verizon would just release the factory roms for their phones. Granted, the Ozone has been on the market for a little over 3 months. I have also contacted HTC support in asking them if I can get the rom somehow.

With all the best-

Its VERY hard to truly brick a device, there is almost always a way to fix it, its just hard in your case because we don't want to screw up you application and OEM/shipped ROM's are a pain to find...

But can I ask one thing of you...

I recently created the "Smartphone ROM" section on this wiki, so what I want to ask is, if you happen to find a OEM/shipped ROM give me a link so I can add it. PM me the link and/or just post it on this thread.

I am also in need of the original factory ROM for Verizon.

I bought the Ozone, but decided to upgrade to the TouchPro2.. Want to sell my Ozone now, but can't without the factory ROM.

So far my search has been a bust..

Well. I am not sure if this will lighten up anyone's day but the official 6.5 update is out for Snap users. You'll need your snap serial number. I was hoping that I could install this on the ozone (I mean cmon it's bricked anyway, can you brick it any further) to maybe boot it up to my home screen but I have no htc snap serial number so... poof goes that plan.

However I'm getting hopeful since if it's out for the snap, it should be out for the ozone too soon. To talontsi07, add this to your rom wiki page, if you haven't done so already since it was released a week ago. :)

Oh, now that I see, this is for the europe snap. well still it's a good sign I guess...
