1. RE: Htc Hero being unable to connect to wifi
Sep 13 2009, 5:53 PM EDT
"Please Help....Make sure your router has the WiFi radio enabled. If you have any type of encryption set in your WIFI router or your device, temporarily turn it off on both devices. Have your phone and router set to open unencrypted - no WEP or WPA set up. Check in your Comm Manager, tap "Settings" followed by "WiFi settings" then tap the "Power Mode tab" and set the Power Save Mode slider to Best Performance. Then stand with your phone right next to the router and see if you can connect. If so, you can then begin to add back the encryption that you are use to using. In Comm Manager, Wireless Lan, Main Tab, Current Configuration, SSID should be the name of your WiFi network, Mode should be "infrastructure" Tx Rate should be Auto - these settings all come from the router to your device. Tap the Advanced Tab and Status should read "Associated to Network" and IP should be 192.168.0.10x (where x= a number 0 thru 9) If you don't have that info tap the bar "Renew IP" and the device will attempt to connect to the router and obtain a new IP address. 2. RE: Htc Hero being unable to connect to wifi

Hey, I have the same problem as the initial post. I have tried my router with no encryption and get no change. However, I don't have a Comm Manager on the phone or some of those options, where are they from? Settings and Advanced through the HTC menus gives me some controls (none of which have helped) but not things like power or tx rate etc. Thanks for any advice, tearing my hair out over this for the last couple of days! Settings and Advanced through the HTC menus gives me some controls (none of which have helped) but not things like power or tx rate etc.I was hoping that the Android Operating System would have screens and menus that are similar to the Windows Mobile OS. The Comm Manager (aka Wireless Manager) and other info from my post above are based on a WM OS. It sounds as though your Android (Linux based) OS is substantially different. The general comments above about trying to connect with encryption disabled still apply, but the Comm Manager info doesn't help - sorry I couldn't be more help, but I have no experience with Android.
