Voice Dialling
Aug 13 2009, 2:35 PM EDT
I take voice dialling for granted - so much so that I assumed it would be available on my new Touch Pro 2. The HTC tecchies have told me that a number of people have commented how impractical a phone without voice dialling (in UK at least, where driving and making a call is illegal without one). If yu agree, please get onto HTC to get this upgrade released asap,

1. RE: Voice Dialling on touch pro 2

I total agree with the voice dialling function is an useful function especially when your hands are busy, such as driving.I already installed the Cyberon voice speed dial software into my touch pro2. I also re-assigned the send key(Hold) to the voice speed dial function. Now I can carry out the voice dialing fuctiion via holding send key on the device. However, I think this is still not convenient as I still need to take my phone out from the pocket. I think the real advantage of the voice dialling is to carry out the function by holding the call handling button on the bluetooth headset. Unluckily, I failed in doing this. The following is the details in another thread I post in another forum: The touch pro2 can't carry out the voice speed dial function with my bluetooth headset. tap the call handling button on the headset can not make anything happen. Neither by press and hold the button. The only function still remain with the sony-ericsson HBH-DS970 is double tap the call handling button on the headset to re-dial the last number. The voice speed dial function is very useful when your hands are busy, such as driving. What can I do now? I have two bluetooth headset, one is sony-ericsson HBH-DS970 and the other is SIEMENS HHB-750. The software I use is cyberon Voice Speed Dial V1.2. The following is an answer from HTC: "I do not know how you have got Cyberon installed as it is not instaled on the device by default. I therefore cannot give you any support as the devices do not have any voice command software installed out of the box. best regards, HTC Europe Support" I can't have anymore words on this. It comes preinstalled on some WM6.1 ROMs but you can buy it separately from Handango.com for 29.95 USD. Check out the Microsoft demo and tutorial on the Voice Command Website. It is really powerful and works great. Do you find this valuable? |

I drive with a revving engine, windows down and music going. I find that back ground noise and the constant pushing of the Voice Dial button force me to concentrate on the call more than the road. I usually stop to dial. Do you find this valuable? |

Someone think the problem due to the new designed bluetooth stack built in by HTC. And they think the problem can't be solved unless HTC release a new patch. Do you find this valuable? |

There are so many threads discuss about the problem on several forum.HTC had a problem with the bluetooth stack/Voice Command conflict on the Touch Pro also. That is the newly released ROM you may have seen discussed on this Wiki. Bad news about the BT/VC on the TP2. I'm planning to get a TP2 (Tilt 2) as soon as AT&T introduces it. Hopefully the patch won't be a long time coming, since they figured it out for the Touch Pro. Maybe when WM6.5 upgrade comes out for the TP2. In the meanwhile I'm going to check out Cyberon that is mentioned above. Do you find this valuable? |

I own an HTC TP2. I watched a video here: http://www.mediabistro.com/mobilecontenttoday/windows_mobile/voice_dialing_with_a_touch_pro2_jabra_sp700_bluetooth_car_speaker_125280.asp#atuid-48ff210259ccba1b That shows the HTC TP2 voice dialing with a Jabra SP700 - so I bought one, and MS Voice Command.....and it doesn't work! I still have to pull over and dial manually. To add to the growing list of complaints about voice dialing with the HTC TP2: I use Direct Push, for security my Exchange server insists th2 TP2 keypad lock is enabled (which is a good idea). I have yet to find a Bluetooth headset that can connect while the ketypad is locked. So even if I could Voice Dial - I would have to key the PIN first - not very hands free is it? The TP2 is a great phone, its such a shame HTC have totally missed the fact that a large number of users need 'real' hands free. Do you find this valuable? |

"The microsoft Voice Command neither can be implement via bluetooth headset on touch pro2. There are so many threads discuss about the problem on several forum.I was doing a blind search for a BT problem I'm currently having with my HTC-based Xperia (Xperia is similar hardware to TouchPro 1), and thought maybe I have a little bit of advice for MS Voice Command that could help. For the longest time (I bought my Xperia back in Dec 2008), I thought I had a firmware problem of some sort because I couldn't get my JVC KD-NX5000 car stereo to consistently connect to the Xperia via Voice Command. Well, a couple of months back (after installing every fix known to mankind, alternative ROMs, etc) I realized that 2 things are required in order for consistent connection with MS Voice Command: 1) DON'T CHANGE ANY DEFAULT SETTINGS in MS Voice Cmd. (Don't even think about unchecking certain features. And, whatever you do: never, ever set a hard-key to launch MS VC. This will override the software hotlink that the BT connection will require behind-the-scenes.) 2) Make sure your screen-lock is set, then set your device to wake-up via ANY KEY. (The PROBLEM with MS VC and --at least in this case the Xperia-- the WinMo device is that the external BT device can't "wake-up" the WinMo device if it's sleeping. So, now, whenever I'm in the car, I keep my Xperia in-pocket (screen-lock on), and if the connect button on the JVC doesn't initiate, I smack the backside of the Xperia against my thigh. Then, the BT connect from the JVC works EVERY TIME. --Don't you just LOVE Windows Mobile's BT implementation? :-O Do you find this valuable? |
