Fuze - New WiFi Router Utility

Recently xda let the word out that HTC had provided a new utility which allows Fuze users to use their phone as an independent WiFi modem. Needless to say, this was an exciting prospect and I immediately followed the appropriate links to download the utility and install it. However, even though I followed the instructions to the letter, when I tried to have my laptop see the WiFi connection established by the phone, it couldn't see anything. I made sure that all the settings were as they were supposed to be (to the best of my knowledge). Can anyone shed any light on why this didn't work? Was there something I missed?

It seems that this utility is set up for WEP with that password?"Well, if I understood the directions correctly, I was under the assumption that you could choose your own password, so then when connecting the WiFi with the computer, you would have to put in the matching password that was set-up. Did I misunderstand the instructions? Do you find this valuable? |

Did I misunderstand the instructions?"I haven't tried this software yet, but I've seen programs set up with a fixed initial password that you can change when you are connected. I would try the 1234567890 sequence on the router and the device and see if it works. If not, you can always change it back. I also wonder if you can set this up without WEP. I always find WEP difficult to deal with. Do you find this valuable? |

I use Walking Hotspot from Taproot Systems Inc. for this. It allows me to use my phone as a wifi hotspot and connect up to five devices. It is ready to go from installation and is extremely simple to use. You can use WEP encryption if you desire.

Please forgive me for waiting so long to acquire such a wonderful program. It was EASY to download, easy to pay for (got the lifetime access), and EASY as #&!! to install and run!! Once I put in my registration code, that puppy started working from the word go. I needed a way to put my laptop on a separate network from my office while at the office (in order to test a remote VPN client that was malfunctioning). My laptop found the WHS hotspot within microseconds and put it on the 'net. I was then able to properly test my VPN client and the sucker worked. I am totally ecstatic. My only slight concern is whether or not AT&T will come hunt me down and try to make me pay a tethering charge on top of the Unlimited Data Package for Smartphones that I'm already paying. Hopefully not, in which case this is one of the best utilities EVER. I may be a WAR EAGLE, but the VolsFan has my UTTER RESPECT today!! Thanks again partner. Do you find this valuable? |
