How to change screen orientation?
Jul 4 2009, 12:54 PM EDT
I want to know how I can change manually the orientation of the display (from portrait to landscape & vice versa)?I read elsewhere that the G-sensor will do it automatically. This is true with the Opera browser, not with other applications, including Win6.1 or Flo3D. Do you find this valuable?

I have the same question as well. I recall that in earlier Windows Mobile OS versions and HTC P3300, there was a manual configuration setting. Now with Diamond 2, it seems to be only automatic which is not actually working as it should. For instance, I am not able to use my GPS software in landscape mode. Could someone help with this issue? Thanks! Do you find this valuable? |

Yes, there used to be a option for that, but it looks like they removed that setting. the applications now have to be designed to switch to landscape to portrait. automatically.

"Thanks s for your tips!Basically that ' is " what Diamond Tweaks does. It makes that registry change, but in a .cab file for people that are uncomfortable mucking about in their registry. Do you find this valuable? |

I am glad to see that someone is working to resolve this issue. I would like to try these tweaks on my Sprint Touch Pro. Have there been any side effects to applying them? Do you find this valuable? |

"I am glad to see that someone is working to resolve this issue. I would like to try these tweaks on my Sprint Touch Pro. Have there been any side effects to applying them? They should all work on the Touch Pro also as it is basically the same system as the Diamond. The : HKeyLocalMachine/System/GDI/Rotation Change the "HideOrientationUI" from 1 to 0 will work on the TP if you just want your manual screen rotation back. All the registry hacks can be cleared by a hard reset. These Diamond Tweaks are also excellent and compatible with the Touch Pro Do you find this valuable? |

"After loading the cab and making the changes, it does require a soft reset."The cab has been run and the phone has been reset. I have observed that the fix for displaying 4 icons in a row on the Program/Settings is now visible. However, I still am unable to see the option for manually changing the orientation from portrait to landscape. Will this fix be available for certain applicatiions only or should I see an icon in the status bar that will allow me to change it. I'm interested in using this feature in applications like Microsoft Mobile, Messaging (Text & IM), Email. I believe mobile phones with Windows Mobile 6.5 does this automatically. Thank you for your continued efforts in troubleshooting this issue. Do you find this valuable? |

Correction to previous post: I did some digging and found the orientation setting under Settings/ Screens. It does change the orientation as expected, but when the phone is turned off or you go back to the home screen, it reverts back to portrait. Is it possible to add an orientation icon or set default option go prevdnt the need to reenter settings each time? Btw, thanks for removing the annoying text confirmation. Topaz Tweaks appears to work pretty well. Do you find this valuable? |

I have not found a tweak yet, on any phone, that keeps the phone in landscape mode. Except for phones with g-sensor or slide out keyboards, you always have set it back to landscape.
