Jul 1 2009, 11:48 PM EDT Since the TP2 and the TP are the same family of devices and are both running WM6.1, you should be able to install and use TTN7 with both devices. When you say it won't install, do you mean you you get an "installation failed" notice or it installs but won't work? Have you established a sync relationship between your PC and the TP2? Can you sync data between the PC & TP2? When did you get the TP2 and how do you like it? There are lots of us in the U.S. that are anxiously awaiting the release here. When I try to install ( a regular purchased licence Navigator 7 software release ) it appears the message box: Your device is not supported by Tom Tom Navigator 7 ! If you gave a look on the installation notes that are present in Tom Tom site you'll discover that HTC Touch Pro 2 is NOT SUPPORTED. Only HTC Touch Pro is supported. This was very strange to me like to you. The hardware is more or less quite similar. So it is very strange. I phoned the support and they told me that HTC Touch Pro 2 is not supported !!! :(( So I want to try to install the software anyway. My idea is to bypass the installation check. To do this I was thinking to change the Device Name or Device ID ( I don't know if it is possible ... ) to HTC Touch Pro ( HTC_Raphael) , then install Navigator 7 software and then reset back the original name to HTC Touch Pro 2 ( HTC_Rhodium ) ... The TP2 is so new that it may not be on the list of Tom Tom supported devices, but if the software works on the TP it should work on the TP2. I seems as though Tom Tom has some kind of check list in the install program for supported devices. I don't think changing the device name should make a difference, since the device model can be picked up in many other ways, but it's worth a try. BTW - you can change the device name to anything you like, it doesn't have to be the model of the device, that's just the HTC default. To change the Device Name go to Start>Settings>System Tab>About>Device ID Tab. Post reply 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you find this valuable? Do you?

Jul 3 2009, 11:12 AM EDT Tom Tom have the most protected software available and yet the worst after sales service that there is. In the past I have had all sorts of trouble with them! The answer to your problem if you want it to work on your windows 6.1 phone is to download a cracked copy of the Internet and put two fingers up to Tom Tom. Not that I would do that!! Much like M$ and Apple , HTC does not design phones with backward compatibility in mind. TomTom has said in the past that they will no longer be supporting the mobile phone market. Tom Tom Navigator 7 version 7.910 (9185) i use this with the MAP purchased earlier at the Tom Tom site Western and Cental Europe 830.2306 this combination works fine up to now. " did you purchase this from the website? and do you live in the u.s? i am considering buying this but did not see the touch pro 2 on the list of compatible phones. i did see this gps system called mobium, maybe you could try that. also, the guy giving a review for the tp2 had tom tom software on his touch pro2, but he was in the uk so i'm not sure how much that factors in. Apparently the problem with TT7 and the TP2 is that TT7 is set up for a maximum screen resolution of VGA (480x640). The TP2 has WVGA (480 x 800) and the TT7 software can't provide the wider resolution. I have seen one proposed patch to run a program that temporarily reduces the TP2 resolution to VGA to run TT7 and then switch it back to run other apps. I seems like a real pain. Check out the page on this Wiki "GPS Software" for a review of other GPS programs available. iGuidance is highly rated in the reviews and it will handle WVGA. I don't know if it has maps available where your are located. If you are in the U.S. it should work well. Post reply Do you find this valuable?
