Whenever you sync with your Pc, there is always a setting for whether you want the PC to erase and overwrite everything on your device or whether you want the device to erase and overwrite everything on your PC or just combine them. You must have set one to erase and overwrite the other. Are you using outlook ? Are they just erased on your device ? Look both on your device and on your Pc, if they are on neither one, then I am afraid they are lost.

I'm sorry to disagree..you don't get this setting..you do get the exact setting only for files..as for outlook items there's a similar setting and that is "if there's a conflict, would you like to replace items on desktop or device" but this option does not pop up, and will not work unless for example you have a modified contact that was already synchronized with the PC.
The only way to have the contacts erased when synchronized is if the synchronization was not completed successfully(interrupted then re-connected)
or if you deleted the relationship which will delete the related items on the device& they weren't synchronized to the PC
however, last but not least, unfortunately for you Talal, if the contacts are not in Outlook on your PC(check if you have multiple mailboxes in your outlook) or on your device or SIM card..and you never backed it up using any program or you don't have a copy of the PIM file(a file found in Device's memory before the contacts were deleted) then there's no chance you can get them back

Talal - all may not be lost.

If you have the contacts remaining on your device or on your computer you are still OK. If they are not in either place and you are syncing to Outlook, Outlook keeps all the contacts, calendar, notes, etc in a file called Outlook.pst. If your Outlook contacts are wiped out in Outlook.pst there is a file called Outlook.bak which is the backup file for the Outlook.pst file. It may not contain all the info you lost, but it probably contains much of it. If you need to look for it, post back and I will post the path to the file. It is a real bugger to find, but it's in the same folder that Outlook.pst is in.

Isn't that what I said ? In a less verbose and drawn out way : ) I am assuming this was his first sync.

Just so we don't get confused on terminology the PIM file in Outlook has a filename of Outlook.pst. Depending on how Outlook was set up on the PC originally, it may, and usually does have a backup file in the same folder as Outlook.pst. The file is called Outlook.bak. If Outlook was wiped clean on the PC, it means Outlook.pst is wiped clean. You can recover whatever data is backed up in Outlook.bak. It may not be everything, but it's better than nothing.

I'm a consulting engineer and I keep all my client billing records in Outlook, so if I lose my Outlook data I'm in big trouble; so I back up Outlook.pst to a flashdrive about once per week ... just in case.
