Is the phone new, did it just start happening out of the blue? Did it start happening after installing software, after you hard reset, is it still freezing before you re install your software or contacts? My phone keeps freezing, what can I do ? doesn't tell us much. Do you find this valuable? |

Well, That's what happened to mine. After installing the new ROM upgrade v. 6.1, it started locking up and running slow. It would hibernate like normal when being on for awhile but after trying to "awaken it" it just has to be soft reset and thats getting old real quick. I did a hard reset and some things are better but this is a pain in the you know where. Help Please!

well i bought it off of ebay 3 weeks ago, and it said the phone had only been used for 1 month. I've had this model phone before and notice the one I have now was slower than my other one. For instance, while typing text messages, the phone would "choke" for a second and then the words would appear on the screen, but this was never a major problem. The freezing started happening just 5 days ago. all of a sudden i couldn't scroll through my conacts. So I didn't think it was that big of a deal, so I just did a soft reset and from this point on, my phone continues to freeze. I found taking in and out the battery is the only thing that helps. Sometimes the phone will work properly for a few minutes when I do this, and I'll notice when I start up the phone, below the ATT ball it will say either "no gsm" when my phone will freeze or if it says some code, I know it will work for a little while. Even when the phone displays the code at the beginning of the screen it dosen't always work. Is there someplace that repairs these phones, because I think the warrenty on it is void since I bought it from ebay

It sounds like that could solve your problems. Make sure you back up all your critical data and programs, because a hard reset will erase everything and leave you with a clean ,out of the box phone. Press and hold the right and left soft keys while doing a soft reset. Continue to hold in the soft keys until an instruction screen appears. If it just soft resets do it again . "I have done hard resets as well as soft resets, multiple times. also what are the soft keys?"A hard reset generally wipes the phone clean of all added software and programs. If a hard reset is done and problems persist, that is usually an indication that the problem is hardware related and not software related, But make sure that you have done a proper hard reset NOT a soft reset and NOT a clear storage. There is a picture or the soft keys to press during a Hard reset in the photo section. Do you find this valuable? |

"I have done hard resets as well as soft resets, multiple times. also what are the soft keys?"i noticed with my 8525 that when i got low on rom my phone would freeze or it wiped out my contacts list. i went and bought a 2 gig mini card for it and saved all my photos, videos, games, ringtones ect on the card. when i did that my contacts list came back, it stopped freezing up. i have to save all photos i take directly to the card. that is a camera setting. since i have done that, it frees up my ram. random access memory, which if u are low on it, u will freeze, programs wont run, wierd stuff. good luck Do you find this valuable? |

I had freezing problems with my 8925 (Tilt) when I was running WM6.0. I reduced the frequency of freezes by turning off 3G. (Get the 10 Button Comm Manager from Rainman 76's Profile on this Wiki). When I upgraded to WM6.1 the freezing problem disappeared. I still use the 10 Button Comm Manager and keep 3G turned off when I'm not using it. 3G is a memory hog when it's running and the 8525 has less resident memory than the 8925, so turning off 3G may help.
