HTC Touch - Locks-Up, touch screen delays, can't dial, etc...
Sep 18 2008, 6:51 PM EDT
Help! The phone gets locked in a mode of opening screens and getting stuck there. I'm not able to close them, and the touch screen seems to be operating on a delay. I can't dial out unless the number is in my call history queue. Often it gets stuck in a continuous "sync" cycle and I have to soft boot to make it stop. Anyone else have this issue? Advice?

Advice?"Have you checked to make sure that you have at least 5MB free in each the Program and Storage Memory (Start>Settings>System Tab>Memory)? Have you removed all 3rd party applications (anything that didn’t come on the device)? For syncing, you may want to delete the partnership and set it up fresh. If none of this works, try the Hard Reset either by going to Start>Settings>System Tab>Clear Storage or press and hold the Send and End Call buttons while doing a soft reset with the stylus. If you go for the Hard Reset and do a complete back up before (using an application like Sprite) don’t back up the System Data files. These files include your registry and will just reload the same issues when you restore. If you do not back up the System Data files, you will need to reinstall any 3rd party applications that you have as they are also stored in the System Data Folder. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. I have had the same intermittent problem, touch screen inoperative...took mine back to the sprint store..they did a hard reset, but recommended I buy a new phone. Have plenty of memory, running vanilla system, still having the same problem. The problem will clear when they do the hard reset but problem will come back and go away on its own.
