"My wife attempted to do a hard reset on her 8925 tilt and the screen is now in sections; red, green, blue, white. Int he red section the displays reads:Your device is stuck in Cold Boot Mode, here is how to fix it: Download the latest ROM from www.htc.com to a PC. 2. Connect the device to the PC via USB. Note: Activesync and/or Windows Mobile Device Center will not “see” the device. 3. Restart the Cold Boot/Bootloader Mode on the AT&T Tilt: • If the AT&T Tilt is off, press and hold the camera key and press and release the power button. Follow the on screen steps. • If AT&T Tilt is on, press and hold the camera key and press and release the soft reset button. 4. USB should now show in the lower portion of the screen on the device. 5. Run the ROM Update. Note: The automatic customization process that runs after the update MUST be allowed to complete. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Your device is stuck in Cold Boot Mode, here is how to fix it:My goodness browntannis, I wish I read your post of Nov 28. I have exactly the same problem as anonymous above (Sept 10). Five techs from AT&T, and one form HTC were blank about what to do and, as somebody said, the only advise was to do soft and hard resets and finally advising to return the brand new phone to AT&T which I did. I know this is an old thread....but....in case anyone out there is watching or listening....My device became stuck in cold boot mode yesterday. When my screen turned into multicolored stripes, I was very happy to find out there was a name for it.... I found this thread and followed the directions, but without success. When I plug the device into my PC, I get a message that the USB device is not recognized. I tried the steps under #3 (camera key + power button and/or camera key + soft reset). I do get a "USB" at the bottom of the screen on the device. But then when I run the ROM update, it tells me that it cannot connect with the device. I've tried this several times now. I've deleted and then reinstalled the ROM update (onto my PC). I've removed and reinstalled the battery. I've tried it on a different PC, even. No luck so far. Any other advice or suggestions would be appreciated. There is probably something really obvious that I'm not doing, or not doing right, but I have no idea what that would be.... I came across this today when searching because I screwed up a software backup and froze my 8925. I was getting frustrated because I couldn't do any of the hard resets I saw mentioned until I read your solution. It worked exactly as you said it would work and I am now back up and running. I had to join here and thank you for offering this solution.George Do you find this valuable? |

I have this happen on occasion when I have to hard reset. Another issue I have is me losing incoming texts. The fix for that is to remove the battery and reset. Sometimes it comes up with this screen. I have been just taking the battery off and on trying to restart it until it finally clears. This works, well has been working for me, but I will be trying this approach in the future.

"Your device is stuck in Cold Boot Mode, here is how to fix it:Hey BT - I see various forms of this same question all the time. How about creating a page for getting the Tilt out of Bootloader. I finally put up a page for Advanced Config. 3.3 because there were so many of the same questions. Do you find this valuable? |
