How to add new cities to Weather on Touch Pro... and help!!
Sep 9 2008, 5:41 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 9 2008, 5:41 PM EDT
Thanks to AliBabNet on http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1066186/My+city+is+not+listed+in+weather+%28touch%29 thread I have found out how to change the weather on the touch pro:
Use a registry editor as suggested, but the key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\HTC\MANILLA\Weather.CityList
Use the codes found on www.accuweather.com (in the address bar when you find your city) to add your new city (separated by commas).

This works GREAT... unless you live in a city with a space in the name..!
For example (and at risk of giving away personal data) I live in EUR|JE|JE---|SAINT+HELIER
I have tried EUR|JE|JE---|SAINT HELIER, I have even tried EUR|JE|JE---|SAINT&20HELIER and EUR|JE|JE---|SAINTHELIER.
None work - it keeps resetting back to the default 6 cities!
I know it is not the ---'s as EUR|IM|IM---|DOUGLAS works.
Any ideas or am I just out of luck?

The + was the first one I tried as it is how it appears on the www.accuweather.com site, it is strange that it is only one of a few that do not work. Can you try
EUR|JE|JE---|SAINT+HELIER
and let me know if you have any luck? (ps back up your list first as this may wipe them!)

I've attempted to make this change as well for a US city with the same problem. I change the list of cities, refresh the phone to make sure that it is on the phone, and then goto the weather tab. The list just resets to the default 6. I have tried putting in a city that is already on the list manually and that seems to work. Maybe the Touch Pro isn't using the accuweather website?

I'm going to poke around and check to see if I can track down the website it uses.

Use "Total Commander". It is a File Explorer kind of tool which helps you access the registry as well. You would easily find it on the Internet. It is a free tool and works much better than default File Explorer application that comes on Windows Mobile.
the registry is available in the Root Folder when you see the file system through Total Commander.

I have the same result on my Verizon HTC Touch Pro. I am trying to add Fargo, ND and base it off of the Bismarck listing and it defaults back to the original six.

Anyone have a fix for this?

I have a HTC Touch Pro with Alltel and this is how I able to add cities to the weather tab in TouchFlo 3D.

First disable the TouchFlo 3D. Go to settings then click on Today and then on the Items tab at the bottom and then scroll down to Touch Flo 3D to disable it.

Download the latest verision of .NET Compact Framework from the link below. The CAB file will automatically download it to your phone.
http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/d...displaylang=en

Then download a Weather Database Editor. Here is a link where I found mine. There are different ones so see which one will work for you. I used the WeatherDatabase Editor 1.1 Modified verision.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408918

Then copy and past the CAB file to your HTC Touch Pro and install the program. Now your ready to open up the Weather Database Editor and add cities. I tired yours out on my phone and was able to add Weslaco, TX. (For those who don't have a location code go to www.accuweather.com to find your city.)

Now go back to the Today program and enable the TouchFlo 3D and now your city should be uploaded into the Weather tab and now your city will display on the screen when your adding a location.

Hope this helps.

I have an Alltel Touch Pro and just installed the weather database editor (1.1 Modified Version) My city has a space in it. I added the city just as it appears, with the space and it worked fine that way.
Example: NAM|US|TX|SAN ANTONIO

I want to download Total Commander but I have to know what processor I have and I don't which one I need. My Touch Pro says it has a Qualcomm MSM7501a-528 But there isn't anything close to that in the the download page. Do you find this valuable?

OK, so here's one for you, I installed .NET, installed the database editor. The first time I ran it, I did not disable touch FLO (somehow I missed that step) and now when I go to the weather app, it looks like it reloads Touch FLO and takes me back to the home screen!! Did I corrupt the database file or something? Do you find this valuable?

I uninstalled the database editor and my phone works fine now (whew, didn't want to reflash). Now I'm trying to do this via registry, but every time I edit HKCU/Software/HTC/Manilla/Weather.CityList it reverts to a list of 6 default cities (Taipai?) PS This is a Touch Pro 2

I seem to have the same problem as you had. I installed .net and weather database editor. After using the editor now when I got to the weather tab it reloads touchflo3d then dumps me back to the home screen. I tried deleting the weather database editor app and it did not fix the problem. Any suggestions?
