I'm confused.

I have just gotten an HTC Touch and am trying to find out why the heck I can surf the net, but not YouTube - so here I am.
The info at the beginning of all this says,
"Recently, YouTube had updated their site so that additional mobile devices could view their mobile website, so long as you had the appropriate media player. More recent HTC devices like the TyTN II and the Touch came with an application called HTC Streaming Media Player, which allowed users to view sites like YouTube. "

Well, I have a Touch and I have no idea how to access this Streaming Media Player application you speak of - shouldn't it access it by itself? Where is it and how do I use it?
My 'phone' DOESN'T allow me to view sites like YouTube. I just finished over an hour of doing vtap.com and am about to scream or pull my hair out.
vtap will let me view the people's crappy homemade stuff, but the videos I WANT to see, like real music vids won't work.
Is it possible to download these types of things directly from the site into my phone or do I HAVE to transfer them from a PC?
What am I doing wrong here?
