New ROM from Telus
Aug 20 2008, 1:10 PM EDT You probably all know this already... but Telus has announced (on their product page) an updated ROM for the P4000... comes with GPS and all!! Which means... no more searching the web for hacks and no voiding warranties and no countless hours doing reboots. And so far, it works very well. I would not swap my P4000 for an iPhone! Sep 6 2008, 3:57 AM EDT New rom sucks monkey balls. Only unlocks GPS. only thing that works as promised. it does improve blue tooth. No threaded messaging capabillity as promised. Spoke with telus and they said phone is not supported. Also found that if you dial *611 or anyother 3 or 4 digit number. phone goes into "emergancy mode" have to exit phone or no phone calls in or out will work. Going on my third P4000 in 4 months. all DOA's. Telus offered to put me into a Diamond for free for my trouble. Do you find this valuable? |

Oct 31 2008, 2:51 AM EDT The new 6.1 Telus ROM does not support the Stand Alone GPSone Chipset in this phone yet, only the Sprint Mogul (P4000) i understand comes out of the box Stand Alone GPS ready Just pop Wi-Fi on right and Download google maps, the hack i've been reading and people are messing up their phones either cause they dont really understand what they are doing when applying the hacks but Telus really need's to hurry up and Get HTC too make them a GPS patch to renable the GPSone Chipset in this P4000, but i can't see telus making them!! give them one, only thing best which ruins this phone but if u only use for Wi-Fi and GPS then i would get the Sprint 6.1 ROM on this P4000, but i also think if we wait long enough someone is going to make a simple few cab's to fix this Disabled GPSone chipset in the HTC P4000. paul_on_drums@hotmail.com If anyone want's to contact me thru email or msn messenger please contact me, if i can learn how to renable the GPS which from what i have read it is very possible, this phone is such an amazing phone already i had a TyTN before this an for a HTC PPC with no GPS capabilities it sure was alot thicker, by far the best with Stand Alone GPS, Wi-Fi EVDO CDMA windows, mobile 6.1 !!!! would been real nice if it had been GSM 2100 3G, oh well i still think its worth getting on telus even if your a Roger's fan just for the fact of how stable and fast this phone is, it uses the same processor as the HTC TyTN, which is running on the best ARM 400Mhz 7500 series processor (FAST Enough) and the Stock Storage is over 130 MB's thats insane my TyTN 1 only had 39MB i think even less, this phone sure has a ton jammed into a Small Phone, plus in person this phone has the best look out of all HTC PPC's from the p4000 type familys, Anyone there is no GPS update in the new P4000 6.1 Rom upgrade from Telus. 0 out of 1 found this valuable.
