Tilt-Can you turn of edge and 3g while keeping the phone operational?
Aug 8 2008, 7:20 PM EDT Can you turn off the searching for Edge or 3g permanently to conserve battery power while keeping the phone and wifi operational? I want to buy the tilt, but I do not want the data package from AT&T. Do you find this valuable? |

Aug 9 2008, 4:21 PM EDT Yes, you can turn off 3G using the HTC 10 Button Comm Manager. You can find it on Rainman76's profile. It adds a button to the 9 button Comm Manager (also called the Wireless Manager on some ROM versions). Download the CAB file, but be sure to STOP the operation of the current Comm Manager before you try to execute (install) the new Comm Manager, otherwise it will tell you you don't have sufficient system permission and won't install it. I just installed it yesterday and it works great. Having the 3G turned off seems to improve the phone signal reception too. Do you find this valuable? |

Aug 9 2008, 9:00 PM EDT Look to the left on this page under Top Contributors. Click on the icon that looks like a Tilt with 11:35 showing on the screen. Then click on "view profile". That will take you to his profile page. Scroll down to: "Software installed on AT&T Tilt". Make sure your Tilt is connected to your PC and it has finished syncing, then Go to #4 and click on it. Click on "open" and it will download the CAB file for the 10 button Comm Manager to your Tilt. then follow my post from 4:21 PM EDT to install the Comm Manager. My post from yesterday will tell you how to STOP the current Comm Manager before executing the CAB file. Good Luck! Do you find this valuable? |
