Is there a Windows Mobile 6.1 for a Unlocked Cruise
Aug 5 2008, 11:22 AM EDT I purchase my phone two weeks ago. I have AT&T and I live hre in the US. The ROM version I have is 1.28.405.3 WWE. There is nothing on HTC website to download. Is there a 6.1 flash upgrade available? I was told that this would solve some Blue tooth issues my phone has with my laptop and Desk top. Which is neither device can see the other. 7 out of 7 found this valuable. Do you? |

Aug 6 2008, 12:18 PM EDT I emailed customer support about this just a few days ago - since the Diamond comes with 6.1 I was hoping this might have an update coming since it is such a new phone. Here is the reply I got: Thank you for your inquiry about Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade We understand that it is important for you to have the latest software on your device. A Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM update is not available for your device currently. Our developers have to work with your carrier to determine when and if a ROM upgrade will be available. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for availability of any ROM update. Please check the HTC America website for any software updates that may be released, http://www.htc.com/us . Just click on the support link then choose your device.If you have a HTC branded phone please make sure you register your phone at http://www.htc.com/member/login.aspx . ---------------------------- I put in the email that I was in the US - the Touch Cruise is not in the US support section (even though it does list the US frequencies for HSDPA in the specs) so I don't know. Hopefully someone from HTC will read this & let us know about an update for the unlocked version (not sure which carrier in Europe has it) for those of us in the US. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Aug 10 2008, 8:15 PM EDT would upgrading to WM6.1 makes the device better? as far as I know, Touch Cruise is not released in the US through any carrier. I got mine of eBay... Do you find this valuable? |

Aug 11 2008, 11:40 AM EDT I can't remember all the new features of 6.1 but I think a big one was threaded messaging (like the iPhone). I got mine off eBay too since it's not available from any US carrier. That's why the reply I posted from HTC support was confusing - their developers need to work with my carrier. I have an unlocked non-branded Cruise - what carrier would they check with? If they can release the Cruise with 6.0 not tied to a carrier then why can't they do a 6.1 ROM not tied to a carrier? I know it was just a scripted response - just don't like getting them when they don't apply to my question. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Sep 9 2008, 4:05 AM EDT Hi, did you just download the ROM from htc.com and install on your Touch Cruise? I have a problem with activating Bluetooth and someone suggested that an upgrade could solve the problem.. Do you find this valuable? |

Sep 30 2008, 10:53 PM EDT Just rang HTC support (Australia) and was told that there wasnot going to be an upgrade for the Touch cruise to 6.1. He thought it was because of memory problem. Seems strange as i thought the specs for the Cruise & TyTN II were similiar. Do you find this valuable? |

Not sure what the worldwide site is for. I registered for the India HTC e-club since their downloads are still there & not under support. No 6.1 ROM there yet. Hopefully soon... Do you find this valuable? |
