AT&T Tilt Freezes - possible keyboard related
Aug 1 2008, 4:01 PM EDT
Here are the conditions I can replicate for when my Tilt freezes - all of these problems started about a month ago (no new software was installed)
1. if I use Internet Explorer to go to the web email of my ISP - when I enter my username that begins with the letter "i", no problem, if I try to access the account that begins with the letter "s", the Tilt freezes
2. when accessing my work email via Messaging, when typing in a new email (or reply), after an unknown and inconsistent number of characters are typed in, the Tilt freezes
3. when replying to a text message, using either the main hardware keyboard or the virtual software based keyboard causes the Tilt to freeze - the system is fine until I try to enter the first character

The Tilt has worked well for me up to this point but I'm getting really frustrated.

Help!

Thanks.

I am in the same boat and my problems started about 3 weeks ago. Arg! Please let me know if you find a solution. Hopefully the imminent MS Mobile 6.1 upgrade will fix this. My tilt is about 3 months old. How old are your tilts? Do you find this valuable?

Well, it seems like the only option was to do a hard reset, tried that, and so far everything is working properly again. Will post again here if the problems return. Do you find this valuable?

When you say hard reset, do you mean the kind that wipes all the data or just a power switch hold or reest button or battery removal. I have been doing all of those and the problems persists. If you do mean a true hard reset, did you use sprite backup first? I wonder if that will defeat the hard resetting or not, but I don't want to lose all my updates since my last backup.

jwlehane here again. You know, as I am doing a backup to delve into the world of hard reset, I wonder if this started happening after my first backup using sprite. Who knows. Sprite requires you to set a password to do a backup. Luckily the Tilt didn't freezeup when i did THAT text entry.

Yes, the hard reset is where all data is lost. The soft reset and battry removal did nothign to fix the problem.

I don't use any backup software for the phone, as I keep all of my info in Outlook and that is sync'd daily to another computer.
