Playing DIVX on the Bell HTC6800
Jul 24 2008, 10:33 AM EDT Some people may be experiencing slight choppiness or slight audio/video sync problems playing large or HD DIVX files on their HTC6800 phones. I know I did and I had a hard time fixing it. So I got something that seems to work alright and I thought I'd share and hopefully someone out there will be willing to share their tips too. 1) I used PocketDivXEncoder v3.60 (it's free). You can skip the first screen where it asks you what device you have and it should default to arachnos. If that screen bothers you tell it to never pop up again. First, fill in the "File to encode" field. (Pick that blue folder button and browse OR type in your file location/name) Second change the video quality to something between 16 and 25 (you can pick whatever you want but I found values in those ranges work best for quality vs size of file. Third change the audio quality to something between 4 and 7 (again just what I found to work best) Fourth change the "Output dimensions" by clicking that button and pick 320 on the left hand side and 240 on the right hand side (you might have to turn off the "Maintain aspect ratio" check box to have it let you do that. Then click "Apply" At this point you can go ahead and click "Encode Now" and it will make the file for you or if you're pick you can click "Advanced Options" and check off "Use two pass encoding". That will make it encode slower but better results. Finally once it's finished encoding, for saftey I click the "Correct Audio/Video synchronization" button and let it re-work the file. 2) I used DivXPlayer 0.9 on my HTC6800 to play the DivX file and I tell it under "Menu->Settings" to Start Fullscreen and "Default Mode: Rotate Left". I know a lot of ppl use TCPMP but I find it has a harder time with quick sceen changes and audio sync in DivX Do you find this valuable? |

Please let me know if you find any further tips or methods I'd love to know. Thanks! Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Playing DIVX on the Bell HTC6800
Jul 24 2008, 1:47 PM EDT Sorry I keep writing more. OK so having written that last statement I went out and got an SD card ($18 4G SDHC). The files play the same with no problems off the SD card. :) Do you find this valuable? |
