HTC Diamond Fix for Predictive Text
Jul 16 2008, 12:01 PM EDT
Hi,

this was something that really bothered/annoyed me about the HTC Diamond. I have the Touch and really like the text input and I personally found the new predictive text really crap, so much so that I was going to stop using the phone and just go back to my Touch.

Basically, if you want predictive text to work the same on the HTC Diamond as it does on the HTC Touch you need to make a couple of modifications to the registry as follows:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="\windows\compime.dll"
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"

Restart and it should work as before.

Hope you find this useful.

Doing this Registry Change stops the T9 dictionary working with the other keyboards. Also, the Compact QWERTY and Phone Keybpad will no longer type letters, but will only type numbers.

Any possible work around to allow the Predictive Text continue to work as on the Touch Dual for the "keyboard", but also allow the T9 dictionary to work on teh Phone Keypad and Compact QWERTY?

Thanks!

Hi,

you need to download a registry editor. There are a few, but the one I use for the change is the one that comes with Resco File Explorer. Just do a search for that and you should be ok.

As for the other question, I don't know the answer. I don't use any other keyboard that the generic one that I mentioned. I think it's really good as it doesn't just remember words, it also remembers partial sentences that I have used. Takes a little while to "train" it, but once it knows your habits and common phrases, it's pretty cool.

Hope this helps.

Hi all,

I do like it very very much but it caused my diamond to hang with either distorted screen or black out. Btw, my rom is 1.93.

Can anybody help. Thanks...
