Outlook E-mail on Vox/ S710
Jul 14 2008, 10:43 AM EDT My provider in the Bahamas operates on GPRS and Edge. They set my htc s710 phone to the GPRS connection in the settings/connections menu but the Edge connection icon is showing on my screen, not the GPRS connection icon. I cannot receive e-mails unless I am hardwired to my computer and I cannot send e-mails from outlook which defeats the purpose of having a smartphone. Is anyone else having this problem? Or had it and solved it? My phone company cannot get it to download my outlook mail wirelessly and HTC says that it's my problem, not a problem with the phone. The voice and signal is also not that great. I would definitely toss this phone if it did not cost so much. Please help! Do you find this valuable? |

"First, you need to check with your wireless carrier to see who their roaming partners are and what they offer (voice data, Edge, GPRS, etc), You then need to compare the supported frequency of your device against those for the area you are in. If you are in an area where your wireless carrier has a roaming agreement for voice and data, then everything should be working. Can you surf the net using Internet Explorer? If you cant do that, then your carrier needs to work that out first (this wouldn’t be an HTC thing). If you can surf, then you need to check your Network selection settings to see what you have set to be used for “Programs that automatically connect to the internet”. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jul 14 2008, 9:47 PM EDT Thanks for your reply! I do know that my provider offers Egde and GPRS . I can surf the internet using explorer and the internet is set to connect automatically using GPRS. The tech support at my provider has not been able to help me so far but I'll try again. Do you find this valuable? |

Activesync usually gives you an idea why you arent getting your email... Do you find this valuable? |

"Hi, First of all you need to activate the push mail OTA in your exchange server Then just delete the existing account from the phone and create a new account which should be independent of the ActiveSync. In other words uncheck the square in front of mail. Use Microsoft Direct Push to get ur mails pushed to your mobile device. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Outlook E-mail on Vox/ S710
Aug 18 2008, 9:08 PM EDT I had used active sync before with no problems. However, after resetting the phone as directed by the HTC tech person I can't get the activesync to work anymore. Prior to that I guess I did not know where to go on active sync to find out why I was not getting my mail. Do you find this valuable? |

Aug 18 2008, 9:12 PM EDT "Hi,I think that this is what the tech person at HTC tried to do. In any event, I still do not have e-mail. I am really not a tech person but I'm pretty sure that my simple home office does not have an exchange server. :-) I went through the instruction manual but is it true that if you're not on the MS exchange that you cannot get e-mails?
