i have the xv6900 also. Everytime i save .mp3 files to the sd card, after about one day they disapear and these funny characters will appear. If i drop a new .mp3 file to the sd card some file will reapear. I have been looking for a fix but no success. Verizon has no idea how to fix it, and they swear no one else has this problem. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I also have had problems with a corrupt Micro SD card on my Verizon Xv6900. After contacting Verizon and HTC, I've been unable to find a workable solution.

It happens infrequently, 3 time in a mont. I think it's usally after I install and "application" on the MICRO SD. I think have to relad the files (most of them) and the problem is fixed. Not sure if it is also related to MP3 file being "sync/transfered" from Windows Media to my modile device.

I have a vx6900 and this is my 6th card and 2nd phone. I've contacted Verzion and PCD. It seems no one is reporting the problem and this is the first they have heard about it. I've asked them to search these threads and read about it. Do you find this valuable?

My XV6900 is also causing repeated microSD card corruption and, in a 45-minute conversation with Verizon Wireless Technical Support they are STILL denying that they know anything about it or that it is a "known issue." Unfortunately, I have yet to figure out a "pattern" as to when the corruption occurs.

Does HTC or Microsoft offer any OS updates that rectify this issue?

I have also noticed this "corruption" in my phone. I have gotten the funny characters but all i have to so is remove then reinstall the card and all of my data will show back up. Its as if the device forgets the card is there. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I've tried that several times with mine, but it's never worked to resolve my corruption. Do you find this valuable?

So, does anyone have a solution to this? I've tried taking my card out, and even taking the battery out, but Windows Media Player still doesn't even see that the card is there. Is there a different media player that works better? Do you find this valuable?

By the way, I had Verizon Wireless replace my XV6900 and I am still getting corruption on my new hardware. However, I may have noticed a connection between Microsoft's Live Search and the corruption. It seems that when I have used Live Search relatively intensively that the corruption occurs.

Therefore, I have disabled the option for Live Search to use the storage card for its data storage (forcing it to access only the device itself). I am still testing to see if this ends the SD card corruption problem.

I have had ongoing corruption problems on my Verizon xv6900.
Just to inform others: I don't use Windows media player, I use pocket Music, I have tried 4 different Micro cards. 1/2, 1,2 and 4 Gig.
I greatly reduced the frequency of corruption from once every 3 days to once every 2 weeks or so by moving my mail attachment storage off the card.
I do have several applications installed on the card.
The only common application that so far seems to cause corruption is the phone contact list, which is odd since the contact list is not stored on the card.
Next thing to try is setting the card properties to read only and see if that makes a difference.
Sometimes the card just appears corrupt to the phone and works fine if I take it out and put it back in, most of the time however it is completely thrashed and requires me to reformat it.

I ran into the "mail attachments" problem right away and disabled that option, but my problems continued. SD card corruption continued. So far, since I've disabled LiveSearch's use of the storage card, I have not have a recurrence, but it's too soon to tell if that is a permanent fix.

Keep us posted. Thanks jlhore

I am pleased to report that I have had NO SD Card corruption since changing the settings to assure that Windows LiveSearch did NOT use the SD Card for storage or having the program installed on it.

My guess there is an issue with Windows LiveSearch code in accessing the SD card.
