Problem with Alarm

Hopefully someone can help me out, but I just got the phone yesterday and have been unable to figure out how to increase both the intensity and duration of my alarm. Obviously, I have the volume on, etc. but for some reason when the alarm does go off, it only makes one small beep that is hardly audible. Not only that but it only beeps once per 10-15 sec.
If it helps, all 4 boxes located under my alarm setting has been checked as well (play sound, repeat sound, flash light, and vibrate). Hopefully one of you guys can help.
