Using HTC Mogul as Modem....
Jun 15 2008, 4:28 PM EDT
My Modem at home has died, so I have no internet connection. After doing some research from my mogul phone, I found out how to use my mogul as a modem. Now the little things I"ve noticed is, I keep getting disconnected from the connection, but that doesnt bother me much. MY QUESTION IS, Will Sprint charge me for this? I have the simply everything plan, not sure if that means anything, but I just want to know is sprint going to charge me. I dont want to call them and ask them yet Do you find this valuable?

I called Sprint today about this same issue, and I was told that you actually have to have "Phone as Modem" service from them, which they wanted to charge me $39.99 for. I do not believe this is the case, especially with the new ROM giving us EVDO Rev A. I have not researched it further because I am at work :-) 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I just uploaded PDAnet and have been able to connect my laptop through my phone @ 2.4ghz, but I'm not sure if I will be charged any more than my usual $15.00 for data access, btw I'm usuing sprint as my carrier.

I have been using "phone as modem" for several months with no extra charge on my unlimited data plan. But recently I upgraded my service to the "unlimited everything" plan and the feature won't work now. Sprint said that this feature is not included in my plan and I would have to pay $15 extra a month for this feature. What a bummer. Do you find this valuable?

I have the simply everything plan as well and i have bad news... and good news...
1) You cannot add the phone as modem service to your plan. Sprint will not even allow you to pay for it.
2) They have locked down the "internet sharing" feature in the OS (WM6.1) revision release.
