HTC Dual Touch (20 key) can't use the keypad in some applications
Jun 9 2008, 3:17 PM EDT I just got a US version of the HTC Dual Touch from Best Buy. The problem I'm having is that in some applications, I cannot get the application to recognize the 20 key keyboard. What I mean is that it only registers numeric keys and the 1st letter of the other keys. So I can type 0-9, q, a, z, o, l, del, enter. I've tried holding down the SYM key to get it to switch to another text entry mode and it won't. The biggest problem I'm having is that my company uses Good Mobile Messaging. That means my email, calendar and address book are all served up through the Good suite of apps. And these apps won't recognize the keyboard properly. I've also noticed this same problem using both the Windows Live and Google Search home screen plugins. They won't recognize the keyboard either. Keyboard apps like TouchPal seem to work but I bought the dual to get the suretype keyboard. Any ideas? I've called HTC. They are "escalating" the issue but didn't have any good answers. But if I can't get the keyboard to work in Good, this thing will have to go back. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: HTC Dual Touch (20 key) can't use the keypad in some applications
Jun 21 2008, 1:13 PM EDT Same issues here. Windows Live Search home screen plug-ins and good. I am going to take mine back to Best Buy today after about 20 days of use. It's disappointing to say the least. I really like the size and feel of the device, but if the keyboard doesn't do what I would reasonably expect of it then $550 is hard to swallow for a device that I perceive only partially works. RE: HTC Dual Touch (20 key) can't use the keypad in some applications
Jul 31 2008, 8:53 PM EDT You could try to hardware rest as below, Select startup -> system -> clear storage, then input password and enter OK. After reset, you have to do some settgins then the keyboard works again. Note: All data will be lost after hardware rest. Please backup the data first. 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
