Jun 7 2008, 1:41 PM EDT "you can perform a "Windows Update" via:Windows update does not update windows itself. It is meant to download security patches and update other Microsoft aspects of Windows. Windows 6.0 can only be upgraded to 6.1 or 7.0 (not yet ) through a Rom upgrade. 16 out of 20 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jul 15 2008, 1:32 PM EDT In Europe, the HTC Touch Dual shipped with Windos Mobile 6.0, and in April 2008, shipped in USA with Windows Mobile 6.1. There is no ROM Upgrade for Europe users at this moment in the HTC eClub. This sucks! 10 out of 11 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jul 15 2008, 9:40 PM EDT No updates for Australia, either. I don't know if there will ever be one offered here, but I hope. The big difference (and the thing to look for if you're curious why you'd update) is with Internet Explorer. If you get the "real web" browsing experience (like on the iPhone) you're using WM6.1, otherwise you're on the oldie I'm using, 6.0. 6 out of 7 found this valuable. Do you? |

Aug 6 2008, 11:29 AM EDT Microsoft ask manufactures to upgrade existing Customers to WM6.1 and since HTC cares only about New customers and getting aupdate is imposible from HTC we are victom of supporting HTC product sothats what i found out after long search 2 out of 4 found this valuable. A number of people on the XDA-developers forum have found the same. Part of me really wants the upgrade but the other is content to leave the phone as it is. I have spent ages tweaking the settings to get it to do what I want and the only thing that would make a big difference to my internet browsing experience would be to upgrade to a 2.8" VGA screen! 3 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Aug 10 2008, 11:11 PM EDT HTC want to punish us the consumer to close their under the table selling channels. instead finding out how phones gets sold to them under the table they decided to punish us the consumer that wants to support their product. go to legitimate companies that respect their users and see you can pick up drivers and upgrade from their website without asking your serial number or Question you for any info. like HP Samsung or Nokia. Idiot like us support these companies to get bigger. or begging them for the driver and upgrade that is our rights to begin with 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Aug 11 2008, 12:23 AM EDT I bought my Tilt about 4 days ago, in New York (Manhattan) so technically, I should have 6.1 right ? I'm looking at the "about" screen and it reads: "Windows Mobile 6 Professional.CE OS 5.2.1622 (Build18128.0.4.4) Copywright 2007. So, what should I make of that ? On another note, (I know, it's a different update) when I click on Windows update, I get a message saying " Connection to update server was not available. Check your data connections settings and ensure the device date and time are correct." I've tried manually with both the checkbox for "use data plan" checked and not checked, makes no difference. doug 5 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

Sep 12 2008, 6:58 PM EDT "HTC want to punish us the consumer to close their under the table selling channels. instead finding out how phones gets sold to them under the table they decided to punish us the consumer that wants to support their product.It is our right, however they want serial numbers, etc, because service providers that purchase and sell the phones, tend to add their own edition of the ROM and customizations, and they lock the device to their network, including a CID lock which prevents other ROMs from being installed, trying to install an official HTC rom on a device from say Orange can brick it, which means u'll have a useless phone, so its for ur benefit. HTC have been selling for years, but not directly under the name of HTC, as they mainly sold their smartphones to companies, who then renamed and sold them off as their own. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Try another hard reset : Remove the back cover, press the call and end call buttons at the same time . Keep holding them while you insert the stylus into the soft reset hole to the left of the USB port. When asked for confirmation , let go of the keys and stylus and press the enter button on the keypad. It should reboot. Do you find this valuable? |
