HTC Touch Dual Touchscreen nonresponsive when keypad slide out
May 19 2008, 6:46 AM EDT
Hi, after 3 months of use, my HTC Touch Dual is suffering from a strange problem whereby when the keypad has been slided out for use, the touchscreen becomes non-responsive. This is an intermittent fault, and if i slide and close it a number of times after that, it tends to work again for a short period of time. The touchscreen works fine when the keypad has not been slid out. I have attempted Hard Reset, soft reset. has anyone else come across this problem? And If so is there a fix? Does it sound like a hardware or software issue?

i have the same problem... its seems arbitrary when the screen will and wont work... sometimes it is fine others not. Half the time when it doesn't work it because the screen is open and i am typing sms.. but then it occasionally it happens when the screen is down, and then only works again once the screen is reopened....other times it simply does not work at all?!?!I called HTC...they said it is possibly 3rd party software which is causing the fault, but they were not sure (they recommended taking it in for service)... i did a soft and hard reset and i still have the problem?!? hmmmmmm.... ??? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. I previously posted regarding the intermittent fault with the touch screen when the screen was slid open. It has now spread like a cancer, and my HTC Touch dual no longer responds to touchscreen taps either open or close....

HTC said they cant fix the phone that quickly and they have not had people call up with the problem before... so they dont know a sollution.I am trying the new ROM update as supplied by HTC /Optus Australia.... hopefully that fixes the problem ROM 1.31.710.13!??! But they dont even know if it is hardware or software?!??! Im supprised there are not more forums with this issue?!? Has anyone else found people with the same problem?? Both my wife and I bought our touch dual 4 months ago and we are having the same problems, can it be coincidence?. I'm sure HTC knows this problem exist but are not addressing it sooner!.I have 4 main problems now and I am making a report to T-mobile: 1. recieving or making calls, on the ear speaker I hear increasing siren noise and it's sour to the ears. I have to put phone down and re-dial. 2. sometime keypads screen non-responsive attempted hard reset and soft reset, sometimes work and other times doesn’t 3. when making calls it shows connected on screen and seconds running however can't hear the person on other line and vice versa. 4. receiving calls, "incoming call" sign shows but the caller display is blank 2 out of 2 found this valuable. I am having the same problem. I purchased my Dual Touch in Hong Kong while there on business so the US repair department for HTC directs me to the Asia Pacific repair department. When I make that long distance call I tell the automated answering machine I want english but the machine does not respond. This is so frustrating. I will probably never buy another HTC phone again. I have only had this for 8 months.

The problem is persistent. The screen does not respond and does not unlock either. Sliding out unlocks the phone..,.. but sms cannot be sent. Start button cannot be used. Settings of the phone cannot be accessed. If there were any 3rd party software that caused this problem, I would love to reset the whole thing to factory settings. But that is not possible either. The touch screen also seems to be physically peeling off from the corners and causing blobs of insensitive areas in the center of the phone. My phone is only 6 months old. :( I need to take it to the vet. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Exactly the same problem here, I have my HTC touch dual since May this year and now it is as good as dead...Screen almost no more responding (a few days ago it only responded for short period of time but now it is permanently out of order), sometimes I can call out the Flo cube, but no way I can access to the start or send buttons...If I understand correctly Anonymous from august, it is an hardware problem due to bad quality in the production: loose connectors... I will have to send it back to the vet as well... Grrr! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

so this thraed has been active for 6 months and HTC hasn't yet come out with a fix? WTF? easy to just blame it on 3rd party apps but i just did a hard reset, my phone's clean ie. no 3rd party apps, and i still have this problem. would the real HTC please stand up?

I have exactly the same issues as everyone else on this forum. Started off by not working occassionally, then only when Keypad not slid out, now totally useless. Cant even send a Txt as the Send button is on the Screen. GREAT. Used to love and rate HTC as a quality brand but the amount of time this has been going on, starting to think differently.

The most likely and ONLY FIX for this fault if not cured with a soft/hard reset is opening up the screws on your phone and making sure the ribbon cable connecting from the touch screen to the lcd is pushed in and not loose and other other visable connectors. This should cure the fault. My phone had lines on the lcd, then slowly it became less responsive when the keypad was slid out… now the screen goes upside down and back to front and a purple colour… and few other weird things! When I press the on and off button it goes back to normal until I slide out the keypad a few times and it randomly goes funny. A bad connection in cables would cause this problem especially screen and keypad problems.

17. MY PROB SOLVED: HTC P3400i
Oct 21 2009, 1:56 AM EDT
sloution: hey friends my htc p3400i was fell a little on bed after that its touch screen used to work ocassionally, i went to repair shop he told its touch sensor has to be replaced in 600/-, i was damm sure my touch sensor might not be damaged so i puchased screw driver set and opened my mobile, there is one site u can find on google which has service manual of all PDA's. As i was thinking the problem was same the connection was loose i tightened it by cello tape as the scew was broken(i think earlier when my screen was cracked the rapirer chaged many things in my ciuitery as it was not looking fresh one, though it was a new phone), and now its working fine....i m too happy.Do you find this valuable? |
