Apr 3 2008, 4:53 PM EDT | Post edited: Apr 3 2008, 4:53 PM EDT
As a Qwest employee and user of the Mogul I have pushed for a ROM update. In about 30 days or so we should be seeing that happen as they are testing now. Thank you for your patience. I will keep everyone posted as info is emailed to me. 11  out of 11 found this valuable. Do you?

While this is good news, there is still a chance that the ROM wont pass testing. Lets not get peoples hopes up too high in case it isnt available in the next 30 days. I sure hope that you arent violating any Non-Disclosure Agreements that your company has with HTC by spillling these beans.

as per the email sent to me the release will be around 30 days with as you said the exception of no major problems. Qwest is way behind on an update as are a couple other companies using this phone while sprint has had many updates. This is just Qwest catching up. As far as disclosures, no worry as I am not giving any proprietary information. I, as of yet, do not know what will be included in the update though I have given them a list of common complaints, and wishes that I have aquired through several forums. It is my hopes that they at least give us the same as the sprint updates including unlocked GPS, better bluetooth and so forth. Time will, of course, only tell.

Is it possible to get an update on this? Before I start hacking away? The last 3 people I've spoken with at Qwest have really, really upset me. 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

Still working through testing. I discovered another feature that is in demand on the Qwest versions and also passed that along. So hopefully that will also be added. I also check the HTC website every few days to see if the new ROM is posted yet. I will repost as soon as I have any new info but expect the ROM out within the next week to 3 weeks depending on the stage of testing they are in. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Could you post the information you have as far as an update release at the following thread as well? There appears to be a number of Qwest users with update concerns there.

I talked to qwest over 10 times already, every time they know nothing!!! They put me through to a manager and he promised me they WERE NOT doing an update. I asked if I could switch over my qwest to sprint and he told me I might as well do it because they are not working on anything. I think this guy is pulling our chain!!! Qwest is the worst company I know, I pay alot for what I got and they treat me like I am stupid, I guess being a civil engineer is nothing compared to being a telephone consult rep. 0  out of 2 found this valuable. I have also talked to several CSR's and managers at Qwest and no one knows anything at all about this so-called update!! I was told by one manager that THERE IS NO ROM UPDATE even being discussed at this point. I think this guy is definitely pulling everyone's chain! Qwest is a horrible company when it comes to supporting any of their equipment. I also wanted to use my Mogul as a wireless modem for my laptop (once again something Sprint supports) but Qwest told me they don't support it and will not give out the necessary user name and password to allow me to do that. As soon as my contract is up it's adios to Qwest for me!! Do you find this valuable?

Connect the mogul to the PC via USB. Then use "Start", "Programs", "Internet Sharing", PC Connection: USB, Network Connection: Qwest, then press "Connect".

Funny how people who do not work internally for qwest seem to think they know more about what is going on,...engineering degree or not....you will know more about the update as I learn more. I am the reason they even considered a update. As for using the Mogul as a internet connection the previous poster has it right as reading your user manual would let you know. Of course in engineering school maybe they do not teach people how to read. See...I can be an A'' also but does it solve anything. of course not....the old saying patience is a virtue holds true. and switching companies will only find you even more frustrated as our history has shown. When there are problems they can never be fixed unless they are known about and the more people let us know about a problem the faster it gets fixed. As for service, well, we have won JD Power awards for 3 years in a row and Gallup awards continuously and that is better than any other company in the country. The people have spoken. Need I say more. If the PCS department cans the ROM update I will be just as upset as you all will be and I am a terrible customer that throws big fits. And I can through a big fit from within. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Yeah thanks for trying to knock me man, I will tell ya what, if you were a true company man you would not be teasing people with the promise of a ROM update. I tell you what, I do not go around town spreading information about my company that is not FINAL! We all know how much of a super hero you are working for such a great and wonderful company, I feel you should keep your mouth shut untill you can give us something. It isn't right when someone has to brag (even though you did not come out and say "brag") about your job and the things you know, this only reinforces the stupidity of this company. I have since dropped my service and did buy a new mogul with sprint, it is wonderful. It is everything I needed for what I do, I hope everyone who has the means does this as sprint seems to care a little more then the promise breaking bragging qwest giant.

One reason why nothing is happening -- and one reason why it may never happen -- is contained in an announcement you can read here: http://press.qwestapps.com/index.cfm?fa=press.view&pressReleaseId=56671

Qwest will now sell wireless through and by Verizon instead of Sprint and in a much more transparent way:

Under the agreement, Qwest customers will have access to the full line of Verizon Wireless handsets, smartphones and BlackBerry devices, as well as high-speed broadband wireless services for e-mail, Internet access and multimedia services. Residential customers will be able to choose “wireless only” and be billed directly by Verizon Wireless, or include Verizon Wireless service as part of a Qwest bundle with their home phone, Internet and video services, and receive one bill from Qwest for all services.

I never claimed to have an engineering degree...that's the other anonymous guy...lol. But I agree with him...if you are an indication of a Qwest company man that could explain my disappointment with your company. I am a general partner for a record label though and we are switching all of our artists and staff to Sprint....bye :)

Just to clarify. I never promised anything from Qwest for the ROM update. What I did say for those who neglect to read is that I was told that we were working on getting one and that it was expected. Now that we are moving over to Verizon does not change anything concerning the Mogul. First it was just told to me that Sprint is responsible for an update and since they are obligated for another year that they are actually the ones working on our update which is still expected under their contract. Verizon also sells the Mogul under a different name and I personally am hoping that they will provide a future update for Qwest Moguls without changing phones. Though all Qwest customers will be able to change phones if they wish. Currently there is no time line for the Verizon migration but will be by the end of the year and hopefully sooner as Sprint did not even come close to Verizon or Qwest for coverage or customer service. Verizon and Qwest tied for 1st place and now we will be partners as everyone already knows. 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

The instructions I posted are all performed on the phone. I assume that the Mac can connect to the internet over USB. If so, it should work on the Mac as well.
