Strange GPRS Password Resetting (S620)

Have an unbranded and unlocked S621 running WM6 on the Fido network. Fido just started offering unlimited internet for $7 here in Canada so I signed up right away. They provided the GPRS settings which I entered into the phone and was able to connect to the internet.
But after that first browsing session, the next time I opened IE, I got this error:

"Your Internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Connections"

On checking the Connection settings, I found that the password (which I entered 'fido', or '****') was showing up as 16 characters, '****************'
I changed it back to 'fido' but as soon as I left the Connections page and came back it was back to 16 characters. I'm almost positive this is the reason I can't connect to the network. Has anyone experienced this?

Things I've tried and the 16 character password still shows up:
- Deleted and recreating the Connection
- Creating a second connection in addition to the first
- Asking Fido for a different connection (they only offer one)
- Reformatting (hard reset and reinstall) of WM6

*** The Fido network settings are in the first reply (due to the character limit) ***

This is by design from Microsoft as a security measure so you cannot guess what the password is by how many characters it is. The password stays what you entered.

Have Fido double check everything on their side. It could be a network issue in your area as well.

That makes sense gronnie.
I double checked and triple checked the settings with Fido and still no luck. Another hurdle is that Fido doesn't support the hardware since it's not one of theirs.

What doesn't make sense is why I was able to connect for the first few hours and then nothing after that.
Does HTC have dedicated tech support phone or email address?

They do have contact info on their website... you can try there. http://www.america.htc.com Just to test, can you go to a Fido store and swap your SIM into a Fido phone and test your GPRS there? That way you can determine if it's the phone or if it's the account/network. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

its not the password, thats a cover up so you don't know the length of your password. The password is correct (???).
I talk to customer service but they have there head up their ass if you didn't buy the pone from them.
Glad to know it is not only me, now maybe somebody (Fido) or (HTC) can figure this out.
it works the first time, then not again, (fido would not take on this challenge, I'm disgusted) sounds like a simple fix, Because it was working!!!!
