Ok so my shadow's screen busted while it was in my pocket somehow about three weeks ago. Today I bought another broken shadow on craigslist for 40$ with an intact screen. Only the slider is broken on that phone. I plan on replacing the LCD as soon as possible. I can not figure out how to dissasemble the slider at all, not even with the FCC internal photos. If I can get it apart, I will post a step-by-step replacement. any help???

Well, this is certainly a big bummer. Fortunately, you just saved me $62 because I was on the verge of buying that same replacement screen. In that I bought my Shadow from a small cell phone store, I could ask the manager to do the screen replacement for me. But it breaks!

Owning a business I understand that some customers are unrealistic about their needs and complain unjustly.my phone fell from my leather sofa on to the carpeted floor. 16". Cracked screen. Also, if I had a dollar for every time I turned off by mistake while in my pocket I could buy a better phone. Who design a on/off switch on a corner of a phone? I was suggested to put it in a case to prevent it. By HTC. ??? If I wanted a bulky phone I would have bought a different one. Also, I am pretty sure my money to Tmobile and to you was not "faulty". I suggest u guys do a little more r&d before releasing a device. Or give a call to the makers of the Tmobile dash, or the treo, or the blackberry. FCC here I come. wow, i got mine a couple months ago...i love the phone!!! damn i hope this Sh*t don't crack up, on me...life's already a crack-up...i wished i knew about this SH*T!!! before i spent almost 300 SmAcks!!!if this sh*t happens i will be sh*t'n on T-mobile!!!! "They got in trouble for the Dash and Wing screen cracks and when enough calls are logged on they call it a "Known Problem" and will consider a replacement. The Shadow is too new. However, these screens are all pretty much the same no matter what the model."No, they won't admit the problem with the Wing. T-Mobile is a scam company trying to make ever penny from its customers. My Wing screen also gone bad after 2 weeks of use. T-Mobile charged me $100 for the replacement. I filed the complaint with BBB.org. I just got off of work and found that the anterior screen of my shadow was cracked...I have dropped the phone before and no problem. Today I carried it around work in my pocket, checked my messages, made calls, etc. and by the end of the day...no screen...i didn't drop it, bang it on anything...nothing and it just goes blank...WTF?!?!?

there is totally a way to get the new screen in there. first take apart the phone from the back and then continue and take off the slide screen (i have done it, its not impossible) its easy after that. dont give up hope

Does anybody realize that basically every HTC phone comes with a leather case? Utilize it as opposed to your pocket or clustered purse.

I purchased my shadow in December 2007 and in May 2008 (6-months) my screen cracked!! I was so pissed off when T-Mobil refused to replace it because they claim that I caused the damage by dropping it or whatever... Anyways, I have owned a treo and a blackberry and I beat the hell out of those phones and they kept on ticking.. I believe that the screen is most likely a defect.

I am going to break my shadow down tomorrow and replace the screen. Once I do this, I will post a step-by-step photo diagram of how to do that . . .

Me too! Not even sure how it happened, but the LCD screen cracked and am SOL. If i knew how fragile this phone was I never would have purchased!

Right up front I want to say that I own a company that repairs broken T-Mobile Shadow screens. I know it's too late for the woman that posted initially, but for anyone else, I can fix this problem for a lot less than buying a new phone. Yep, without an accident or any drop of any sort... I suddenly open up my T-Mobile to find that the screen is cracked. I am livid! This is outrageous.

MY husband has the t-mobil dash and same problem. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and the screen appeared to be cracked. T-mobil were ass's about it too. they tried to say that he physically abused his phone. I'm seriously considering on cancelling my contract and going back to sprint.

The screen cracked on my Shadow too! After reading these threads about so many failures, and having purchased it in 02/08, I went to a TMOBILE dealer where I also found them to be a bunch of ASSES. They said I must have dropped it, well I've dropped many a cellphone in the past with no problem. Anyway I called customer service the same night and the REP forwarded my call to the PDA dept. where I connected with a nice REP named Kristi who turned out to have good hearing, and told me since I had been with them since 2003 they were going to help me as long as the white dot under the battery had not turned red from water exposure. It was white. Also asked me if I had dropped it. Of course not, and I ended up paying $9.95 shipping for a new phone which is in transit as I relate this story. WOW, was I ever HOT when that lady at the counter said they would do nothing for me, so don't go with the first opinion, keep trying, and threaten to take yours and all your friends business elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
