GPS Navigation For HTC Mogul
Dec 17 2007, 9:11 PM EST I have an HTC Mogul and would like to use it as a GPS navigator like the Garmins out there. I see in Start, Settings on the system tab there is an icon for External GPS. What do I need to buy and what software do I need. My service provider is Qwest... not sprint. I already looked on www.telnav.com and they said it will not work with my service. Has anyone got this to work? is there a website that has equipment and software that will work. 8 out of 8 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: GPS Navigation For HTC Mogul
Dec 17 2007, 9:29 PM EST you need a bluetooth or wired windshield wart. The GPS in hte device is Assisted GPS meaning it used cell tower triangulation and cannot support a full featured GPS application. I have a Pharos BT unit using Delorme software and it works great. However i woudl suggest that your visit both the Seidio site and the Pharos sites before you decide . . . . The Seidio site has a great looking cradle anwith built in GPS . . . . And the Pharos has some good looking software from Ostia. 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: GPS Navigation For HTC Mogul
Dec 29 2007, 11:03 PM EST If HTC release the upgrade firmware to enable the build in GPS on Q1 of 2008, then just load TomTom 5 or TomTom 6 to phone, it will work. Or buy an external bluetooth GPS reciever at buygpsnow and it will work with TomTom map or MioMap, do some search you will learn more. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Dec 31 2007, 11:24 AM EST Yup. I have tomtom 6 loaded on my sd card. You will need atleast 1.2 gb of space so I hope you have a nice sized micro sd card. Never had a problem with it. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 4 2008, 11:05 AM EST I use the Garmin Mobile 10 Bluetooth GPS Receiver (and included maps) with my Mogul and it works great. It cost about $120 from a 'net vendor. 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 22 2008, 7:09 PM EST I have Microsoft's streets and trips GPS receiver (Pharos GPS-500) , has anyone ever tried just plugging that into their phone? My only thought would be driver or power issues. Do you find this valuable? |

Jan 24 2008, 11:07 PM EST The best GPS software is Google maps mobile, it is free and works with my bluetooth GPS (holux GPSlim236), it needs the internet connection to download the maps. much better than MS streets and trips. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 25 2008, 8:30 PM EST According to sprintmogul.net there is a updated rom available now that makes an external gps no longer necessary. I came here to see if it was true. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
